Re: 56 and Is it possible?

To get back to your original question -- "is it possible? " Yes it is possible. I took 39 years off from vaulting after college and returned 9 years ago at age of 61. Now at 70 I'm having the time of my life vaulting all over the country and a few international trips (Brazil most recently)...

Re: Adult Michigander wishes to pole vault again

Welcome back to the greatest sport in the world--- ( in my biased opinion)---. I have a group of masters vaulters that jump at my place with me through the summer. And, I will probably again organize a Masters workout evening at EMU's Bowen Field house for the winter. Most of us are coaches as well ...

Re: Masters beginner learning PV for decathlon - SE Michigan

I have a group of masters-- and others who vault at my place on a semi-regular schedule. Most of us do some coaching and coach each other and would be glad to get someone new started. I live north of Chelsea so that may be a reasonable drive from where you are. I'm out of town for the National Senio...

New M65 World Record-MATTI KILPELANINEN

Congratulations to Matti, who cleared 3.51m at Eastern Michigan Invitational Saturday Jan 8 to set a new Indoor World pole vault record for Men 65-69. After rattling the bar at 3.4 m he had good air around the bar at his jump for the new record. And, thanks to EMU for adding a masters vault after th...

Re: Howard Booth Articles

Again, Wow! And Thanks for pulling together all those nice articles. I did have a great year but I'm not sure I deserve all this attention. It's been quite an adventure getting back into pole vaulting (and on good days other events) not only have the athletic challenges have been cranked way up, but...

Re: Minimum starting heights at Sacramento

Thanks for the update on the vault setup details-- it always helps to know what little things you are facing ahead of time. I got your message on poles-- I think I found a couple that will work.
Look forward to meeting you too.

Re: Minimum starting heights at Sacramento

Does anyone know who I would contact to see what poles ( length/weight) will be available for rental as mentioned in the Athletes Information download. This sounds like a great solution but only if I can find something close to what works for me. Could the "list available at the packet pickup t...

Re: Poles for Sacramento

Vaulters, I too am hoping to borrow or rent some poles. I could work with poles in the range of 11'7-140, 12'-130 and 13'-125 or 13'-130. I tried to e-mail Tye at the above blog but my message bounced back. I'd greatly appreciate any assistance or further information. Look forward to seeing you in t...

Re: Kamloops 'Status of Entries'

Bubba, Sorry to hear the arm will keep you out for this meet. It's so hard to predict how quickly an injury will come around. I've been working a fine line with a sore quad for the last 6 weeks -- but I think it'll be almost full -healthy by next week. We look forward to seeing you there anyway. How...
