Re: grip tape

3M makes a grip tape that is essentially the same as the Tako tape. I've used both. It's called "3M Gripping Material". It comes in grey and clear and is available on Amazon. My preferred grip tape is Gamma Grip gauze tape for tennis racquets. It is tacky, rough and relatively inexpensive....

Re: Pacer One compared to "standard" poles

You should not buy a new pole or even three new poles for your son at this point in his development. Chances are better than not that he will move through the pole(s) you buy in a matter of weeks or months (as he grows and improves) and then you are back where you started except for the money you sp...

Re: Crack at Top of a UCS Pole

I did drill the small hole at the base of the crack and painted the crack inside and out with fiberglass epoxy from a hardware store fiberglass repair kit with a thin piece of fiberglass fabric on the inside over the crack. It seems to have worked great. I had a kid using that pole all of last outdo...

Re: Pole rack for pickup truck

I've used a Yakima DryDock "Y" bar to carry poles for years and it works great. https://www.yakima.com/drydock I put a Yakima bar across the front of the factory roof rack on my SUV and the Y bar in the receiver at the back, bungee one or more pole bags or individual poles to the two bars ...

Re: Repairing Top Mat Cover

Google "truck tarps [your city]". Find a local place that makes custom tarps for the trucking industry. They have vinyl and mesh fabric in lots of colors and sell glue made for repairing these fabrics. Our pit was damaged in a wind storm 5 or 6 years ago. I repaired the tears this way and ...

Re: Incidents Involving Winged Box Collars

Here is the full text of Section 5, Article 24 from the 2014 NFHS Rule Book: "ART. 24 . . . The planting box shall not contain any foreign materials except planting box padding. Such padding, if used, shall meet the applicable ASTM Specification Standards, and can be incorporated into the desig...

Re: need help to ship poles

I've had good luck with R+L Carriers. If you ship from terminal to terminal it is less expensive. None of the commercial delivery services will ship poles.

Re: Last minute top pad repair

Try a local tarp maker for the trucking and/or tent industry. Our pit got torn up in a windstorm a few years ago and I was able to get mesh and vinyl fabric as well as the right kind of adhesive to fix tears in the solid and mesh vinyl sections of the pit. Don't know what kind of foam repair you nee...

Re: Incidents Involving Winged Box Collars

I agree with Decamouse. I spoke about this in-person with Becky Oakes in December. The NFHS requires you to use a collar that states it meets the ASTM standard. The NFHS is not attempting to interpret the standard or figure out if a certain collar actually meets the standard, nor do they expect hig...
