Re: NCAA Mandates new ASTM Box Collar by Dec 2013

I am all for making this event safer, never had a vaulter hurt vaulting. But we have just entered the point that we price this event out of exisitence. How many years has that existing box been jumped on? Why do we need more foam around that area? Bad coaches? Bad rules on weight and hand band limit...

Belton Expo Explosion - 4 HS Girls at 13'+

Jack Chapman and his Texas Elite vaulters and family put on one of the great pv meets for kids and advanced vaulters alike to attend. Thank you Jack and all your friends and family that make this happen. The elite high school girls competition was a mini national championship, I lost track of how ma...

Kris you do a helluva job with that event. Sorry to miss it this year. You have my promise to be there next year. Thanks for being brave enough to put this on and smart enough to get it done.

Re: Bad Call on Volzing for a high school girl

This is such a tough call at any level, especially high school. Had to call it on a vaulter who actually tossed the crossbar back on to the peg with a 15 mph tail wind and it stayed! I hated to call it, I believe the bar was at 5.60, Devereaux would remember. The kids have to be coached to know not ...

This is really a fun event, well run, great setting. Right on the river, huge shade trees, it's like jumping in your rich uncle's back yard.

Re: Volunteer coaches turned away

Hell yeah we're old, we've had to deal with pole vaulters all these years. We're lucky here, alot of the old pole vaulters are now volunteering to be officials, get certified and help. Texas vaulters seem to keep a hand in it, even when their careers are over. They show back up and help the next bun...

Re: Volunteer coaches turned away

I didn't have to give blood samples, fingerprints, give away any of my inner most secrets. To be a USATF certified official, pass a general knowledge test and not be a felon or a threat to national security. There is a background check, hopefully all that read this post are not fearful, those that a...
