Re: WIC - Men's Pole Vault

The info on Thiago Braz is wrong. The brazilians are appearently using Malmö, Sweden, as home base. Probably to have easier access to good competitions for Thiago, Fabio Gomez Da Silva and Fabiana around Europe. http://www.iaaf.org/competitions/iaaf-world-indoor-championships/iaaf-world-indoor-champ...

Re: RENAUD LAVILLENIE WORLD RECORD 6.16!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read the same report from Debbie, I just don't see it. Even with the crappy quality from youtube (downloaded, run through Ubersense, and zooming in), should we be able to see a 2 feet difference. Video seems to confirm, that plant is in the box, and takeoff within inches of each other (comparin...

Re: RENAUD LAVILLENIE WORLD RECORD 6.16!!!!!!!!!!!

The step may have been "on" in looks at the takeoff, but as I said before, it was reported that he was up to 2 feet outta his mid....which means he had to stretch to get there... Slowing down, poor posture, flat takeoff on a big pole and high grip... This is one of those times you have to...

Re: RENAUD LAVILLENIE WORLD RECORD 6.16!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what caused this but there's clearly a shok in the pole just after his takeoff. This shock then made his left hand lose the grip. https://www.dropbox.com/s/sw85w93qooko8yz/Photo%2019-02-14%2009.09.19.jpg Not sure why it's not in the box. It appears from previous frames, that take off i...

Re: RENAUD LAVILLENIE WORLD RECORD 6.16!!!!!!!!!!!

All the better reason to have a correct 6 step mid... Or plant the pole in the box: http://youtu.be/vfKG3nzuGb8 Now, it's not easy to see on this video, but it appears he's pretty much on his take off mark (about a foot out on the first tape on the side of the runway), but the pole is not in the box.

Re: RENAUD LAVILLENIE WORLD RECORD 6.16!!!!!!!!!!!

Possibly, the damage done might be bigger than expected: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RjC87KZmccE&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DRjC87KZmccE After failing at 6,21 does he have visible pain. When he takes his shoe of, is there blood on his socks, and they seem to be assessing the damage. It looks lik...

Re: Pole Vault Stars 2014, Donetsk (Sat Feb 15)

As far as I know, is the 5,76m, a South American indoor record for Da Silva. The previous record only a week old, 5,72m.

Re: 4.80m Jump. What should I work on?

Letting arms bounce and that elbow chicken wing out feels more natural. We all know pole vault is largely mental." Sorry to disagree but some of us believe that success in the vault is largely dependent on good technique allied with good all round physical qualities. Yes, proper and sound tech...

Re: Eyes at takeoff

That is what he said and that is what he meant. Too many vaulters take off flat because they are still looking down as they leave the ground - pretty hard to jump up when you are looking down. You should know where you are without looking at the box - if you have an organised run up - see the appro...
