Re: Question of too much bend???

It probably has a bit to do with the fact that you pull down on the pole after you take off. It's easier to see in the first video because of the angle, but you can see after you takeoff, your top arm bends a bit. Then in the first video you can see you takeoff, and then a split second later your ar...

Re: How to run from 7-lefts, and drop the pole?

It's not even necessarily about them being slower, just rather them being no faster. If you reach the same top speed in 5 steps as you do in 7, then just take 5 that way you can get more reps in before you get as tired. Also, I know there's people on here that strongly advocate that you don't need t...

Re: How to run from 7-lefts, and drop the pole?

Do off the runway pole runs. Start with walking plants, and pause at every step to get a feel for where the pole should be at every step. Next move to fluid walking, then jogging, and finally full speed. This way you learn how to move your arms with your feet properly, to plant better. As for the 7 ...

Re: Blocking out?

Locking your (typically) left elbow while taking off. This forces your shoulders back and your hips to come forward making it hard to set up a good swing. Also, often (at least from what I've seen in high school) it makes it harder to party much past 9 o'clock in your swing because the arm stays loc...

Re: ghetto style training suggestions

ahh good call haha I have most of a 15 (I think) foot broken pole that I can do pole drops with. haha running in the snow hasn't worked very well though. On my last snow day, I got bored of being stuck inside so I went out and played in the snow. When I tried to run, I made it a whole like 2 steps b...

Re: The run and plant

hmm sounds like you arent running tall on those last few steps. if you are landing on your heals then chances are you are leaning back, and to counter balance that you are striding out your steps (which is why moving back doesnt help at all). so running tall, means exactly that being as tall as poss...

Re: female vaulter! needing help getting vertical, and shooting!

i dont know if im just reading it wrong, but are you saying that you are trying to jump faster now that you are bending the pole? because if so that could be causing a lot of your problems, because with the bent pole you need to not rush your swing, because that means that you're not setting up your...
