Re: What does the bottom arm do????

I must say, I got quite a laugh from the whole "Agenda 21" and the ensuing debate. The bottom arm; I look at the bottom as critical to the success of the vault, even more so than the top. Why? So much is controlled by the bottom arm. 1. The bottom arm controls the bend in the pole, by &quo...

Re: Pole Vault Approved for VT High School Indoor Track

It might help to get Indoor New England's out of the Regie. We have been there for years and it may be tradition but it is time for another state to get a chance. There are plenty of great tracks all over New England.

Re: Curiousity Question

An easy answer, takeoff. It sets the stage for every action to follow. Whether you coach your athletes as swingers, shooters, or somewhere in between- if they don't hit the takeoff the rest just won't happen the way it is suppose to happen. (I do understand the idea of the approach being first and t...

Re: coaches/teachers

I teach and coach as well... I teach special education in my district. I have found that my education background has helped me tremendously, especially having an understanding of "differentiation". Yes- its an education term but is crucial to this event- finding just the right way to descr...

An opinion....
The guys are stronger so they can get away with more than the girls. The ladies need everything to go nearly perfect. the guys, some things can be off and they can muscle their way up.

Just one thought.

The Real Rules and Real Coaches

It's been a long time since I have been active on the message boards here. Busy teaching and coaching, no time for typing. Silence too long, As I travel from meet to meet and from school to school I find that 98% do NOT meet the rules. Most being for dumb reasons; no pads to cover pavement around th...

I vaulted for 4 years in D III and I found a lot of varience in the competition. I was never a great vaulter, 13' 6" at my best, and I was competitive at a lot of meets. Hell I won a couple, but then again I got my butt kicked a lot too. I've seen 10' place in a conference meet, and 15' 4"...
