Re: can't plant. it's pissing me off

Another idea is to run a 5 step until you're nailing that every time, then get back to your 7 step. The shorter your run, the easier it should be to hit your takeoff. Also consider DJ's way of ensuring your run is on with a midmark. Search PVP for threads about his midmark chart. Kirk Agree with Ki...

Re: can't plant. it's pissing me off

Although it was a long time ago, I had this problem in high school. It plagued me for years. Everyone would always tell me it was in my head. In actuality, the problem was that I was outside and was simply over striding because I perceived that I would be to far out. A lot if times you can run the s...

Re: takeoff probs.

Move your step in and put a towel at your takeoff point. Sometimes changing your perspective will help you take off. Give it a shot. It always worked for me.

Re: Video Help!

This isn't exactly a technical fix, but I noticed that when you swing, your shoulders go back to a certain point and then actually come back towards the bar. There is a difference between going upside down 7 ft(your rock back drill) off the ground and 13 ft off the ground that has nothing to do with...

Re: Poor Mentors of the past on the PUll

This is my last post. This has needed to be said for a long time! I have always found it to be very peculiar that A Russian (Agapit), an Australian (Altius) who are considered mentors by some have promoted Pulling immediately into the swing and they could not possibly have thought of a better way t...

Doesn't the downhill start give somewhat of an advantage?

Re: Longer Approach Run?

I think decreasing your run would be a great idea!!

Also think the hops at the end were due to being outside. You were most likely steering because you were way out. When I was in high school I chronically did the same thing until someone in the know told me to move up 5ft!!! Pr'd that day.

Need Help with New Pit

Hello everyone, My school has just purchased a pit after about 20 years or so. I have been trying to get one for the past 5 years, so I know I need to make this one last. Does anyone have any advice on keeping the pit from sitting directly on the ground. Our current pit was waterlogged when I got he...

Re: Advice Needed on Take-off

A couple of questions. Do your vaulters pull with their tops hand/arm after takeoff? This will force their hips forward every time. Second, during sand vaults, do you tell your vaulter to catch their left hip on the pole through the sand vault? This teaches them to stay behind the pole. Look at Dav...

Re: Advice Needed on Take-off

Side note: just started using the app ubersense and it is an awesome tool for coaches. You can take video with your iPhone and then analyze and send to the athlete. Check it out. Anyway, in analyzing videos of the sand vault, I noticed that the problem was that one girl was taking off with her left ...
