Re: Optimal body shape for vaulting.

PV2020, Okay I understand what you mean now. I do think I'm going to stick to my 8-12 reps for the time being because it has been since March since I lifted. Once I get my stronger form back, especially in the squats and olympic lifts, I'll move towards the high weight stuff. It seems like that once...

Re: Optimal body shape for vaulting.

Altius, Realistically I don't have the access to do training like that all year round. Last year we finally got our first sit of pits at our own school, let alone a coach. I've been self teaching myself for years. I do have the opportunity this year to get in to do vault training once a week during ...

Re: Optimal body shape for vaulting.

Okay I'll take that advice, I mainly just need to cut away the junk I eat on an ordinary basis. At the end of November I'll be starting indoor pole drills at a local school. They have a 60ft runway inside and do a lot of 3-5 step runs and planting drills. I'll probably go once a week.!

Re: Optimal body shape for vaulting.

Okay I may go up to 4 then, I'll add it to Fridays and maybe over the weekend if I can. I ran cross this year so I can run distance pretty well.

Re: Optimal body shape for vaulting.

I do think my legs are fairly strong because I remember doing leg presses last year near 300 for reps. But I can agree that I am a bit top heavy. I've got a few d3 schools wanting me to vault for them next year so my goal for this season will be around 14', I jumped around 13' last year. My problem ...

Optimal body shape for vaulting.

Hey guys, I'm a senior this year and I've had some colleges looking in to me to vault for them next fall. What exactly is the ideal body composition for collegiate vaulter. Being pretty short at 5'4" I have a disadvantage on the whole physics side of vaulting. From my understanding the most imp...

Re: End of the year tips?

Wait. So you are only gripping on a 13'7 pole up to 12'6? If you are blowing through with a grip of 12'6 just simply move your grip up a couple inches at a time. It is a UCS Spirit pole so the maximum grip is 13ft. And when I hold there it seems to be too soft and feels like mush. Holding at 12'6 m...

End of the year tips?

Hey guys here is one of my better jumps from practice. I'm a junior, 5'4" 145 pounds on a 13'7" 155 Spirit holding at 12'6". Bungee is at 12'10" and my standards are at 31.5. I ended up blowing through this pole at our district meet the next day, but I do have a 14' 155 pacer to ...

turning earlier.

hey guys, first day out on the pits and I was working on some short runs. 5 steps and under. I have two jumps here, both on a 5 step holding around 10'6" to 11' bungee at 11'. At one point I cleared 11 with my 10'6 grip, and was getting very close to 11'6". I'm jumping on a 12'6" 140 ...
