Re: Otto - 6.01 in aachen Germany

It's a very big square meeting. Very little chance it wouldn't have been surveyed.

Re: German Raphael Holzdeppe

He is already one of the fastest guys on the runway. I think he's like 9.6-9.7 when he's at this best. Bjorn is surprisingly the slowest at just over 9mps.

Re: Steve Hooker

Hey DJ, I have had my share of mental problems in the past as far as planting the pole..and it doesn't usually have to do with the run, in fact, where Steve is right now, he is not even starting his run thinking that he can plant the pole. When an athlete can't plant the pole in a practice after hav...

Re: The Official Flying with Poles Thread.

When I've competed in Brazil, I flew in with either US Airways or Delta to a major airport. Brazilia and Sao Paulo and then took a Tam flight to the smaller destination. Just make sure it is an A319 and up, MD 88, or any bigger boeing and you should be ok. Delta changed my flight on the way home las...

Re: The Official Flying with Poles Thread.

I am flying with US Airways quite often and they accept pole vaulting poles as your second piece of checked baggage, just print off the policy online and have it with you. The cost is $35 for a second bag. Delta has been giving people a lot of problems, I flew with them yesterday and their policy is...

Re: Broken Carbon defect?

The pole you broke are notorious for breaking in normal (not overloaded) jumps, which I believe is why they are making the Carbon FX's again. Probably it had the slightest ding in it from the standard in your one previous jump, or you slightly hit it off something at some point. They figured out how...

Funny that in the article it says that he jumped in the meet on Sunday, which is January 1st, and the video was posted December 31.

Redington Beach

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone trains in the Redington Beach area? If you do, and you know a coach, or someone I could talk to about a possible facility nearby that I and two other athletes could train at during a training camp could you send me their email, or forward my email on to them? jwpv@y...

I recorded most of them, but our internet isn't very good here. I'll post them when I get back home.

Re: WC Men Finals - What a competition!

Many of the Germans continue to study right through into their early 30's. No NCAA system to push them through in 4-5 years, and schooling is free in many of the German provinces so they don't have to worry about scholarships and stuff.

Re: WC Women Finals - Another great competition!

She only took 4 jumps in the competition. I think she needs to work on finding her rhythm more while competing, because it seems like that is missing. She started at 4.65 which isn't difficult for her I guess, I didn't see the jump. But from there she passed to 4.75 and then 4.80 which is pretty hig...
