bottom arm

im well aware this discussion has been throughout this forum many times but i couldnt pin point the answer to my questions exactly. When you take off, you want the bottom arm to be straight correct? not pushing into the pole but rigid, right? Will it improve my vault a lot? it seems that my bottom a...

Buying New Pole

I finally convinced my coach to buy me a new pole. I am just curious on what you guys think i should get. Height: 5'10 Weight: 160 I currently use a 12'4 170 but it bends to much and im not too sure its a 170 since its just written on and bends like my 150. I also use a 12' 150 and im getting a good...

Day before meet

So today is the day before a meet and i really wanna make states tommorow (10'6, pr 10.) I jumped 10 on my 12' 150 and i moved up to the 13'0 150 today and it was just way to much bend for me still. Then i tried a 13'6 155 and it was way to much bend for me still. I cant really control the bend and ...

pole choice

Yesterday i got a pr of 10 feet. I have been improving rapidly and look to maintain it. I was previously holding 11'6 (or so) on my 12' 150 pole. I moved my hand grip all the way up to the top and it improved my vault a foot (9 to 10) since last week. We have a 13' or 13'6 (cant remember exactly) 15...

Re: rockup

First off I think you should be jumping on a higher weighted pole. 20 pounds over is pretty dangerous especially when you start bending, it could break pretty easily. Plus it sounds like you need to focus on the basics of polevaulting so get a pole that is over your weight so you can still pole and ...

Re: Getting inverted / turn

I am holding at about 11'6 from 6 lefts. My previous coach said everything was pretty good but he wasnt their today and today was the first time ive vaulted since the indoor season (atleast a month or so ago). I noticed im bringing my hands into my body when i take off. Referring to David butlers vi...

Getting inverted / turn

Today in practice i was clearing a 9' bungee from 5 lefts. the invert and turn are no where to be found, i sorta helicopter over or 'slide glide'. i know i can get atleast 9'6 from 5 steps but i need to learn to get inverted and turn. without a bar/ bungee up i have no problem kicking my feet up and...

Bending Problem

I'm well aware I should'nt be bending the pole in this stage of my pole vault 'career' but it is starting to happen and get me to higher heights, therefore I would like to save that convo for another time. Recently, when I bend the pole I have been letting go of the pole and not even finishing my va...

Re: Pole Choice

Unfortunately we only have access to the school gym. A lot of exercises can be done their but not as many as the gym such as in the video. If I am going to do those ill have to do it on my own time. Maybe ill pitch the idea to one of my buddies who also pv's. I'm sure a spotter is a necessity for at...

Re: Dutch training video

Their is one gym but i would have to go their on my own time and honestly, i think im going to. maybe ill mention it to another pv so we can train together. I really just wanna get better and basically will do anything. its ...

Re: Pole Choice

well ive been using the 13' 150 and i no heighted last meet going for 8'6 which is pretty horrible. im not sure what exactly went wrong but i was holding about 10'6 but simply could not seem to get over the bar. On my last attempt i barely grazed it resulting in a disappointing meet overall
