Another correction.......please bear with me, I will get this right eventually. The two top national leaders in each event will get a $500 travel stipend and automatic entry into the Sunday finals. The top three finishers from each state can petition for a performance based travel stipend of $500 / ...

Re: Beginners vaulting in Sacramento - ideas please!
Try the Pacific Association USATF website for USATF clubs that offer pole vaulting in the Sacramento area. I believe Kurt Roth has a club at Granite Bay HS. If not I am sure there are others. (http://www.pausatf.org ....... click into clubs) Check with the contact names listed for each club to find ...

Re: Anthony Curran out at UCLA?
It is not a rumor......... According to people I have spoken to who are close with him he will no longer be on their paid staff as the jumps coach. According to my sources he was offered the position as a volunteer staff PV coach and would be allowed to continue to conduct his camps at UCLA. I know ...

Re: Pole question
Something you might want to try which will give you a close answer but not definitive unless you jump both poles. On a level surface set up two saw horses or another type of rack system that will support the poles. Space them two feet less than the length of the shortest pole. Remove the plug from t...

Re: Pole Comparison???
I have athletes that switch back and fourth very comfortably between Mystic and Spirit in the smaller sizes and cannot tell the difference. At least they have never verbalized that to me. The Mystic will allow a little higher grip because of the band placement but that would be the only deciding fac...

Re: PV Coaches
Hi I worked with an athlete from France who is trying to get into a masters program in the US and get some sponsorship help. At the division one level you would not be eligible to compete if too much time has elapsed between your high school graduation date and the start of your college enrollment. ...

Re: Failure to launch
At one point or another in a vaulters career this issue develops. Two things have to occur during a run up in order to have a successful take off. First the step has to be on or close to on and second it has to feel on to the athlete. The step can be very on with the athlete hitting all of the marks...
