Re: EIUVLTR is in the Well

What is your take on resistance bands (small ones for around the ankles) in order to strengthen hip movement? Is there significant increases in the hips, glutes, and abdominal muscle to make sure that they are incorporated into an off season training program? Or are there other ways to strengthen th...

Re: PV Pit Almost ruled illegal

This happened two years ago, but one of the field judges claimed that since the top cover did not come to the edge of the base pads, due to shifting and shrinking from usage and breaking down of the foam, that it would be illegal in the coming years. That was two years ago and no one has said a word...

Re: success :).... and failure.. :(

Where are your standards on the first jump? Doesn't look like you're getting enough penetration on that pole to move up. Also, try to get your hands on a bigger pole from the same length. It is a lot harder to go from a 13'6 170 to a 14'6 160 then say a 13'6 180.

Re: Interesting new rule in New Jersey

The reply I got from Don said that his concern was not about advertising, but all "extra" markings on pole vaulting poles. He thinks that markers will damage the pole. His intentions are well-meaning, but completely misguided and will make the sport less safe, not moreso. As is, no markin...

Re: Interesting new rule in New Jersey

1.) Branko and all the other club coaches in NJ- keep doing what you're doing. NJ has always been becoming much more competitive in the past 10 years in the pole vault largely because of the interest generated from these clubs. 2.)If someone REALLY thinks that it's advertising, 2 strips of tape over...

London Renames Subway Stops After Olympians

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olympics-fourth-place-medal/london-underground-map-changes-names-stations-olympic-athletes-174928197.html Cool article from Yahoo! sports. Bubka gets a cool nod in this as well. Not sure if this is the right spot to put it, but I figured others would think this is cool.

Re: Video Recording Systems?

I downloaded an app called "The coaches eye" for the iPhone, have also seen people use the iPad with the camera. It's a 5 dollar app but worth every penny as you have instant frame by frame to show your athlete at practice. You can also e-mail the video to yourself or post it on youtube, b...

Skydex Plant Box

Has anyone bought one of these and installed them? Our school bought one about 7 years ago because they thought that it was going to adopted as a mandatory rule by the NFHS (I wish they bought poles instead). So now I have this big heavy box in our shed that no one has installed and I am getting sic...

Re: please critique!

There are is one big problem with your jump that is having major damage to your success. The end product, which I'm sure people are constantly telling you, is that you are not swining up and finishing your jump. This is caused at your take-off from not jumping up. At your take-off your hips move for...
