I didnt mean to scare or deter anyone form polevaulting it is a very safe sport when done correctly Even when done correctly, this is a very dangerous sport. There are just too many factors that go into every vault. Even with good training/coaching/supervision, the best you can hope for is to minim...

Gymanstics, Pilates, and the "Chuck Norris" Total Gym are three great ways to strengthen while improving your range of motion. If you don't have access to any of these, try hanging some surgical tubing or theroband from the top of a door way (this works as well). Don't rule out the fact that you may...

Definitely redshirt!

Redshirtting is an incredible opportunity to improve your performance just so long as you don't get lazy when you aren't competing. I have seen people come out of their redshirt years and do incredible things. I have also seen athletes gain some weight from drinking beers on the weekends when they w...

University of Miami is a great place to vault. You can vault outdoor all year long (always a plus). They have a million poles, multiple pits, and Bill Faulk coaching you. How cool is that? Oh yeah, it's only about 15 miles to Miami Beach! The University of Pennsylavania is a pretty incredible place ...

Do a lot of research on the schools you are interested in. Great advice. Make a list of the schools you want to attend and why you want to attend them. If your sole purpose for college is to be a pole-vaulter, keep in mind that some schools may already have a squad full of vaulters who vault higher...

That is the God’s honest truth. It happens to every vaulter. It's going to be alot less exciting now that there are no American women in the finals. It will probably mean even less coverage of the finals as well.

Ain't that the truth!

NBC definitely has the worst Olympic coverage. They televised mixed doubles badminton for over an hour last week and all they showed of the women’s vault was Stacy’s NH and the two Russian’s clearances.

Accounting ROCKS!!!

some simple words of advice: stay in college as long as you can! cherish every moment of your lack of responsibility The first 5 years of my college career were the best years of my life. After your eligibility runs out though (and you can only compete unattached and have to travel separate from th...

Nice topic

My freshman year in college I no highted for most of my indoor season. At VT indoor I had to PR just to clear opening hight. Needless to say, I NH'ed there as well. At the following meet (Geoge Mason indoors), right before warm-ups I noticed I was missing a spike and the rest were pretty dull, so I ...

Re: WORST runway EVER!!!

Clemson University indoor is far and away the WORST RUNWAY EVER!!! Your approach starts out by running down a hallway... Yes, a hallway. It is only 10' high, so you need to run with your pole tip only slightly higher than head-high. This causes you to lean backwards during the approach (it isn't un...
