Skypole EZ Plant Flex Numbers
Ok for the past two years I've been vaulting on a 13'6" 150lb Skypole EZ Plant and I absolutely hate the thing. So I'm getting a new pole this year. However I'm having a hard time deciding on a new pole since I don't know the flex number of my old one. I was wondering if anyone knew What the fl...

Re: FHSAA rules on practicing?
Thanks for the help guys!
Right now I'm currently registered with the USATF and paid for a membership at a club in Jacksonville so I can vault on weekends. I'm guessing this qualifies as a third party thing since I'm paying the coach for a membership and have insurance and what not through USATF?

Re: Getting Motivated.
Thanks! :) I have a few friends that would probably like to start working out as well, so that will work. I also talked to my Wood-shop teacher today about building some workout equipment for the track team(Parallel Bars and things like that), so hopefully building those will motivate me to use them...

Re: Slide Box Anyone?
Going to bring this back to life instead of starting a new one.
Alright, so I need to build a sliding box that gives a bit of resistance but not too much. Is there any specific way I need to build one or can I just screw a few pieces of plywood or decking-board together?

Re: Shin Splint Prevention
That's great! Does taping your shins help as much as compression socks, or should I just stick with the socks? I probably would do the same thing. The socks need to be tight though and fit snugly. Something like this would be ideal. -> http://www.footsmart.com/P-Endurance-Support-System-Calf-Compre...

Getting Motivated.
Alright, so track season starts really soon, and I had told myself all last year that I would start a steady workout routine to keep in shape for the season. Well that's all I've done, is told myself. Conditioning starts at the end of January and I want to be ready by then, but I'm having a hard tim...

Re: Shin Splint Prevention
Years ago I noticed basketball players didn't start to have shin splint problems… (hardwood floors-asphalt tracks????) until "tube" socks were no longer "kool".. this made me do some research The pressure and warmth from the socks was helping… so I began to ware one or two pair ...

FHSAA rules on practicing?
I was just curious if there are any FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) rules regarding practicing pole vault during the off-season. For instance would I be allowed to vault at school with the school equipment on the weekends without being penalized by the FHSAA during the next season? ...

Re: About to get a new pole.
If you are overbending the pole but only have the standards at 24", you need to hold lower. The pole won't be so mushy and you'll land deeper (safer) in the pit. Yeah, I know that. That's what I had to do when I tried for 11'6" at regionals. My point was that I think I'm ready for a stiff...

Re: About to get a new pole.
13.6 160 and 13.6 165 Then to 14 footers. Essex poles are good poles to use. Alright, I vaulted on a 13'6" 160 UCS at practice once (I was practicing at a different school) and I had no trouble getting up on it. But you're probably right about that, best to be safe and get a 13'6" this ye...
