Re: Photos of free take offs - Got any?

Ashton has had a number of coaches, I don't believe he vaulted in high school. As a freshman at U of O Kelly Blair-LaBounty was his coach as he started his multi-event carrier. Then Dan Steele was his coach for the next two years with help in the vault from Jenni Ashcroft, and then finally Harry Mar...

Re: Daegu Pole Breaks

KC From what I have heard they were both Weave poles, Not sure which generation of weave but I am sure they both were weaves, the new fx poles are going to be made the same as pre-weave fx poles only better since Gill has put so much into upgrading the manufacturing process trying to get the weaves ...

Re: How often do you jump and other training?

Thanks for the kind words. My schedule looks like a lot but when it is all said and done some days are pretty easy especially compared to what I used to do. For me it is all about consistency, just doing something almost every day makes such a huge difference. I used to get all stressed out if I did...

Re: How often do you jump and other training?

Hey Bubba, What me a maniac, I think I resemble that remark. For what it is worth since we are sharing and I love to see as many guys and gals as possible join us in our masters PV glory here is my basic outline for training. Pre-season - end of August to Thanksgiving. 1. Monday a. Cardio b. lift - ...

Re: The Dysfunctional World of US Pole Vaulting

While I agree with some of your points, Dan, I am not sure why the rant. I certainly never talk to other athletes about technique, just encouragement and positive statements. If I see a problem I let the coach know what I see if I know that coach, if not I just keep my mouth shut, unless I see a pot...

Re: Rough Meet

Depends; how long is that pole where is your Hand hold, how much do you weigh and what weight rating is that pole. looks like you can move your grip up 3 or 4 " on that length pole and if it is less than 15# over your weight I would go up to a pole that is 5 lbs stiffer first and possibly move ...

Zach
Huge blow through either go up poles or if you don't have a bigger pole you will have to run from a shorter approach, mostly a good looking vault

Re: Class of 2011 College Signings

Just to clarify. I think JJ was almost 100% going to U of W until Oregon hired Jamie Cook this year. I think Jamie is not only a great guy but a great coach. Oregon went after JJ very hard and made his decision change from a slam dunk, signing with U of W to a hard decision to chose U of W over U of...

Re: Masters vaulter Paul Sinatra passes away

What lousy news, It really hit me hard. Paul was truly one of the great ambassadors of our masters vault world, He was a great jumper and really a prince of a guy. We will miss him.
