Re: 3 left session yesterday...

Most importantly... I know what you're saying haha.

And even MORE importantly, I'm working on it. And my running form.

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

That video's good for technical advice, but i wouldnt bother with that unless you have a month to really conceptualize it. Keep it simple- free pole drop. It's the only way to truly get your steps under you, unless the pole you use is less than about 1 Ib. AVC Coach is right, and any sand vaulting ...

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

Here's what I see: Looking at all of your runs, it's clear that the entire weight of the pole is out in front of your center of mass. This is causing you to control the pole drop, elongating your strides at the box. Watch your right hand in the video. It stays next to your hip throughout the run. B...

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

Ahhh now that we see your attempts at fixing your over-striding, we are making progress!! The reason you are able to swing well in the first video is that overstriding causes your trail leg is be thrown much farther behind you than when you run efficiently. It FORCES you to stay behind the pole (at...

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

... If anyone wants the quicktime file of that first jump, let me know because you can slow it down much better with that. ... If you have QuickTime vids, you should ALWAYS publish those to youtube. That way, viewers can step thru your jumps frame by frame - just by tapping the left and right arrow...

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

I"ll get to your nesw vids later ... Let me know when you do... I can't even begin to describe how ridiculous that entire session was. I did literally EVERYTHING i could think of. I tried chopping my steps, running only on my toes, but nothing major happened. The newest video i posted was of m...

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

Also... I vaulted again today for two hours solid from 3 lefts, all i did was think about not reaching out on my take-off... Now my takeoff is better i guess... i'm still reaching out some but i couldn't even swing when i was doing this. At ALL. I don't like it... Example: http://www.yout...

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

Doing this is what killed the end of my outdoor season with a hamstring tear... I overstrided into take-off and really jumped hard off my leg. That is completely UNnatural. I agree, it's not the right thing... but if i'm thinking about jumping really powerfully, that is what's going to happen....

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

Kirk, I'll search that up and get on it. As far as the overstride... Kirk, I don't want you to think I'm arguing or anything with you, I'm just asking questions to understand it better. Sounds like I'm supposed to be taking off the ground like a long jumper, from what you guys are saying... going fo...

Re: 3 left session yesterday...

Billy, Thankya. I've been working on a lot of things and some of it's paying off.... It just seems i'm not putting it all together yet... Kirk, you're 100% right on that last step being way too darn long. Last spring I had all but taken that overstride out of my approach and was hitting free takeoff...
