It's never too late to start. You just have to be athletic enough; and it doesn't take much to jump 10' (3M). Sound like you should be able to handle things just fine.

If you're a beginner, another place to consider inquiring into is the group at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville.

Welcome!

There's always a group operating out of Los Gatos High School. I would start there. They even might know of a situation closer to you.

Where did you do your jumping before moving here?

The best way to position your request is by stating you would be less likely to get injured if you were to go to a reputable clinic and become informed about some of the mistakes young vaulters and inexperienced (not saying your coach is inexperienced, though) coaches make. Funny thing is that I had just returned from the National Masters Meet, which was at BYU (where Rick was a student at the time), where I had no-heighted.

Zach McWhorter's Dad, Rick, interviewed at UT-Houston Medical School when I was faculty and Mike Holloway was one of our students. During his interview day, he actually stopped by my office because he saw some pole vault crap on my door.

I see he went to UTSA instead.
