"Really, the best way to determine the vaulter's intent is to ask him! "
Good idea. Somebody asked Hysong ( last I heard he was considered an eliite vaulter ) and got a definite resopnse.
Could anyone else try.

Re: Bottom arm discussion continues...
At the 2010 Pole Vault Summit, Peter McGinnis and Nick Hysong gave a joint presentation. During the question and answer period Nick Hysong was asked “When do you release pressure on the left arm?” His answer was: “You never release pressure on the left arm, You keep pushing up and over your head” If...

I vote for "other".

It seems that when a vaulter approaches 6 meters they automatically become an example of the Petrov method.

"it's been associated with the death of a lot of pretty damn good pole vaulters like yourself." I have a feeling that this is an urban myth. I may be wrong but could you back this up. 2012 If taps work for you and your coach stick with them and don't feel you have to justify them to quarte...

Re: Carbon Weaves Breaking?
GREAT JUMP, I would like to mention this was a very pretty jump and the vaulter is doing a lot of things absolutely correct! Over the years we have seen ladies using much bigger poles than their weight and we find that womens' center of mas is in the hips and mens' is in their stomach. A women can c...

Mr Ellis I didn't see Geoge's 15" vault but I saw him clear 14' 10" several times. Ivaulted against him in 1960 and he was known in the vaulting world for having the greatest push of all time. I wish I could find some video of him, but even he doesn't know of any still existing. Here is so...

Re: Failure to launch
Relax She is obviously a good vaulter. Give her some time. Remember Steve Hooker had the same problem as well as almost ever elite vaulter who ever was. I am sure she wants to get off the ground even more than you want. Ask her what she thinks would work. Time is the answer and sorry if time doesn't...

Re: Highest Jump with 12 foot grip!!!!
It may seem hard to belive, but George Mattos cleared 15' in 1960 at Modesto. He was gripping 12' and had a 42" push.
He was just inducted to the Pole Vault Summit hall of fame.
