Re: takeoff angle and beyond

But you shouldn't exclude the possibility that the bend came ... almost ENTIRELY ... from the force of his top hand on the pole when it hit the box. You gotta gimme something more to go on ... becuz I'm really at a loss as to why you think he's "forcing the bend" with his bottom arm. kirk...

Re: Steve Hooker's New Swing

Well i think, (doesn't mean i'm right), that if Steve Hooker drops his knee and can get back in time to cover the pole then i think he could potentially get on bigger poles thus allowing him to jump higher. he jumped his pr with dropping his knee, and like altius said don't practice other techniques...

Re: Need a lot of help

I think you need to look more at the first step and pole carry before you look at the vault. try to get taller during your run and get taller at t-o. during the jump stage you need to get a higher plant and hit the chest more so you can be in the right position to swing. once you hit your bottom end...

Re: What's the overall best school to vault at?

its hard to think that the outside t-o isn't doing anything? from my experience the farther outside i jump the more it feels like i am cheating. it doesn't hurt your back and you put way more energy into the pole. the only disadvantage is you have to be a decent athlete to have a successful free t-o...

Re: Melbourne Track Classic: Hooker 5.65

I don't know for sure, correct me if i'm wrong. I think steve hooker just got a little ahead of himself at this meet in melbourne. goin into the meet he was confident that he was gonna jump 6 meters, he will jump 6 meters and higher, he just needs to stay focused at the task at hand. none the less h...

Re: I am stuck in the "bucket"

Matt, hey man this is Robby. slow the vault down and watch your head, notice how you look down at t-o and then when you are about ready to pop your hips you tuck your head in again trying to see the bar. i think if you keep your head neutral and look for your left hand when you pop and start to ride...

Re: 5.05 bungee from a 5 step

well then i know who u are :) and i am pleased with the Infromation that you have given me. this is what the vault is all about. outside T-O is one of the keys to jumping high and i think you agree. i love gathering new information, and since you wrote the book, could you give me your opinion on the...

Re: Failure to launch

well if doing the same routine still has her not taking off, maybe you should try explaining it a different way. maybe change the warm up a bit to get her mind off of the take off and just taking off. try using some confidence tricks to help her. maybe use a tap to get her off the ground. i know its...

Re: 5.05 bungee from a 5 step

Altius, i know where you are coming from with your perspective on the vault. if it is from beginner to bubka, which i have read, i agree with a lot of what you say because it is based off the world record technique. there are a couple of things that i don't agree with in beginner to bubka. Im not sa...

Re: 5.05 bungee from a 5 step

well my only advise for giving taps and looking at the vault, from giving taps to my coach DW, is giving the tap and the fall onto the pit and watch the vault its not much but it allows for a little bit of sight of the vault. and for the taps, like you said you only use taps if you are trying to get...

Re: 5.05 bungee from a 5 step

I think that a tap can be used correctly or it can be use incorrectly. If the vaulter is feeling weak or has been working really hard and needs a little help to get some work done i think a tap is being used correctly. If a vaulter is struggling to leave the ground and will only leave the ground if ...
