IND national record

Yo, Rainbow: If I sort through all the inaccuracies in those news reports from India, I think that Surekha improved the IND national record, although not bettering her own record, but that of Solanki. As I have it, the record progressed in the sequence: 3.55m Vazhipali Shresh Surekha 2004-09-12 Mumb...

Modesto Results

The women's scoresheet I've seen posted agrees with achtungpv's post, showing Kelsie Hendry fourth with 4.10, although Suttle and Johnson have better marks. Gus' newsletter has Hendry fourth with 4.25m. Can someone give us the straight stuff? I have the men's results as 1 Toby Stevenson 5.85 2 Russ ...

Schwartz Takes World Lead

At yesterday's Drake Relays, Jillian Schwartz vaulted 4.43m (14'6 1/4") to displace Kellie Suttle as the world outdoor leader for 2005. Tracey O'Hara, previously tied with Dana Ellis-Buller of Canada and Mary Sauer in second place on the world list, finished second at Drake (4.33) and Lindsay Taylor...

Just noticed that Becca wrote,

"I was a pretty bright little kid."

Should there be some commas in there, somewhere?

If Peggy's vault was measured as 10' 10 1/2", it would convert to 3.31m

The previous Guatemala record I have on file is 3.30m by Denise Jerez Agueda at Cd Guatemala on 29 September 2001.

Cheers,
Roger

I posted a reasonably current Men's National Records list to PoleVaultPower on 7 August 2004 and it still can be found in the College and Elite file. This list was abstracted, with permission, from Winfried Kramer, et. al., National Athletics Records, 2003 edition. I don't know of another source as ...

Women's Outdoor National Records

I've given up trying to fit all of the columnar data into the format of the PoleVaultPower message board, so will settle for country/height/vaulter/date. If you'd like other things like place, placing and birthdate of the athlete, I'd be glad to send those along as Appleworks or Excel spreadsheets. ...

2004 Track and Field Purses

Bob Ramsak's Track Profile Reports <bob@trackprofile.com> yesterday showed the total prize money and bonuses awarded to track and field athletes in 2004 as US$21M. The biggest winners, through splitting the $1,000,000 Golden League jackpot by winning each of the six Golden League competitions in the...

The Rise of Isinbayeva

One way of charting the spectacular rise of Yelena Isinbayeva as a commanding figure in the women's pole vault is to look at the top 20 performances each outdoor season since 2000. It can be seen that the dominance of Stacy Dragila in the first two of those years has nearly been duplicated by that o...
