M75 Masters Results

I was interested to note the tie in the M75 category, between long-time masters vault fixture Jerry Donley and Bud Held, 1953 world record holder--in the javelin!

Oops! Men's Final, Final?

Apparently when I posted the men's Euro Champs "results" earlier, the event was still in progress. Jeroen de Wilt writes: Thanks Roger, but these are not the final results of the final Pavlov did win the gold medal, but it was Yurchenko who took the silver medal. The Russian set a PB with 5,90m, equ...

Posting this also to the VaultCanada mailing list brought the observation that the site has SB and PB data reversed. Also a question about why two vaulters listed for France should be entered with seasonal bests of 4.50m and 4.80m. Gérard Dumas responded that those are decathletes who are entered...

European Championships Entry Lists

Thanks to Rick Petrucha for sending along a very good website I hadn't known about. It gives a schedule of major meets and usually a link to entries and results. I used it to get the entry lists for this weekend's European Championships, in Madrid. I'll copy them below, but our formatting doesn't ha...

Stuczynski

Very, very unusual. According to the Roberts Wesleyan website <http://www.roberts.edu/athletics/> their indoor record a/o 2004 was held by Renee Evans at 3.67m (12' 1/2"). Jen Stuczynski is shown on their 2005 indoor roster as a senior, competing in sprint, jumps, pole vault, with a 2004 outdoor bes...

Stuczynski?

Does Jennifer Stuczynski represent a name change? The only USA Jennifers I can find over 4.00 in the 2004 indoor or outdoor seasons are Lincoln, Bennett and O'Neill, and she's not on the 2005 world deep list. ???

2002 Rankings

Carolina Extreme asked where Chase Shealy ranked among 16-year-old vaulters in 2002. I understand that Chase vaulted 5.05m before his 17th birthday in 2002, with 5.08 his best for the year, but two days after he became 17. With that in mind, I have the 16-year-old bests for 2002 as: 1 Denis Fedas (U...

Yang Yansheng

Yang Yansheng's birthdate is 5 January 1989, so he would have been 16 when he vaulted 5.30 on 20 February. Still, not bad . . .

Longest-lasting Women's National Record?

Just got to wondering: which female vaulter holds or has held her national record for the longest time without interruption? A quick guess before peeking--Emma George, of Australia, and Daniela Bártová of Czech Republic must be in the running. Perhaps Monique de Wilt, of the Netherlands, altho...
