You have had a lot of good advice . I cant get your video up - just a load of arabic! Only thing i would add is that if you want the bottom arm to function properly you need to ensure that at take off you can look 'through the gap' between your arms, this means that the bottom elbow must be rotated ...

Yep - try the small platform ladyvolscoach suggested instead of using a tap if you need some help at take off in training. Petrov uses it all the time. Advantage is you get some benefit in training but you know you can never use it in warming up for a comp so you dont get to rely on it mentally. Ano...

I am into stiff pole TAKE OFFS and stiff pole jumping at a bar -especially for beginners - because they force you to jump -not get lazy and wait for a flexing pole to pull you off the ground. But the stiff pole rock back drill encourages bad bad ahbits - which i mention in the book. I would like som...

Never see 'getting vertical' in isolation. Getting into a good position on the pole as it recoils -which is when you should be 'getting vertical', is dependent on doing almost everything right in the preceding stages. There is no drill in the world that can help you to get vertical - in safety - if ...

The answer is there from iggystik. 10lbs is too big a move for a light girl. Try and borrow a Spirit 12/135 or even a 140 for the comp -there are no technical changes you can - or should try to make - at this late stage. Other wise stay on the 130, grip down three inches and push the standards back ...

You should never be afraid of death because it is inevitable and part of life. On the other hand you should not try to speed up the process by being STUPID when you pole vault. :o

Robert S -It is definitely not a passive motion. As long ago as 1985 Petrov described this innovative aspect of his technical model and it is a very active movement in which the shoulders are driven back towards and pad and the hips punched upwards. It is the third 'stage' of energy input in thie Pe...

Bubba in haste - The piece is in the elite section -initial piece by Agapit - question on what it takes to jump 6.40 - issue of the way the left ARM is used to set up a 6.40 vault. It is not about the hand - that is a completely different issue but important because it sets the arm up to do what is ...

If you cant transition poles without a tap - you are not ready for the transition! It should not be used from any length run up because it just encourages a poor take off. The whole point of taking away approach speed by vaulting from 2/4/6/8 steps is that this forces you to jump at takeoff and not ...

Vault fan -you got me! I didnt mention how the pole should be planted the pole in the box because i basically took it as a 'given' -that was a mistake because clearly it is not a 'given'. However the placement of the pole tip in the box should be the same with any technical model. The critical thing...
