Re: Weight lifting low reps high weights?
The human body responds differently to different types of training. Body builders are training differently than Olympic power lifters (or pole vaulters), both are lifting, but both are lifting differently. Furthermore, you shouldn't just train one way, the body needs change over time as the season g...

Penn State has installed at least 2 of them in happy vally, Hip athletics installed one in their old facility... Contacting PSU T/F and CC would be a good start. Or a good start at http://www.hipathletics.com

Re: Good meet warm-up?
morning, obviously there are different types of warm ups, things that work for me may not work for you... so just keep that in mind. For me, I like to start warming up 90 min before the scheduled start time (this all takes about 10-15 min of easy movement) First I do some bare foot feet strengthenin...

Re: Free Take off
C'mon... Flawed... you are talking about the two jumpers who have the highest clearances in the history of the world... there are a handful of other differences between these jumpers, not to mention a lifetime of training that lead to both theses jumps, but to say that one is flawed is just kinda....

Re: Applied Motor Learning: Males vs. Females in the Pole Vault
All of your notions that you are asking about come down to the Anthropometric measures of the ladies pole vault. From a anthropometric stand point we are going to see similarities between men and women elite vaulters in terms of upper body/lower body weight distributions, but the truth remain that b...

Re: push ups? sit ups? pull ups? whats the best for polevaulting
The unfortunate punchline is is that push-up are functionally not the same as pole vault. The impulse and impact that influences that portion of the body are very high, if you are not seeing a Physio right now and rehabbing, you may step on the runway and blow up your shoulder's AC joint the first f...

This is fun, one of my most favorite place to jump is Franklin Feild. When that crowd is all cranked up and that place gets pumping, that is one of the coolest places to compete... and sure enough going over a bar looks just like that... Every time I compete there, when I was flying away, i knew I m...

Re: New member looking for constructive review!
C'mon lets be reasonable, at the D1 level there are only about 50-60 guys on any given year who jump 5.20 or above... to say that schools start looking at 5.20 is really not true... and what, only less than a hand full of high school-ers jump 5.20 on any given year. A schools need is also taken into...

Re: New member looking for constructive review!
Well you wanna win the state comp... well... what state do you live in? Anyhoo, the above advice may sound harsh but it is pretty accurate. There are very few scholarships at the men's collegiate level. There are only scholarships at the D1 - 2 level, D3 has no money to give for athletics, however, ...

Re: The Snatch
***Olympic lifting has a very real danger to it when not done correctly! Having a teacher is a must when starting or learning how to do them.*** The wideness of the grip changes the angle of the arms and distance that the weight has to move. If you hold shoulder width you you have to move the weight...
