Re: Re-painting and re-finishing old javelins - Advice needed!
I have used any spray paint that is suitable for the material the javelin is made of -- Steel/Alum -- go to your hardware store -- it works - especially for practice javelins -- If you saw how some of the javelins are made in China - would not worry about the paint -- if you feel like you want to do...

Re: NCAA Mandates new ASTM Box Collar by Dec 2013
Difference is accuracy -- believe the ones Gill and UCS use (you can also buy directly from a Leica) which has a accuracy of +/- 1 mm over 100m -- those you by at most home improvement stores (Lowes/Home Depot/Menards) are =/- 1/4" at a shorter distance -- that and the ability to but the offset...

Re: Let's talk about box collars!
You are correct - there are two on the market that state they meet it - ASTM sub committee meets next week in New Orleans - reality is they do not "approve" anyone's collar -- they set the standard -- I am telling my school and some other coaches I know are waiting a little longer until th...

Re: Swing Efficiency Comparison: Bubka, Tradenkov, Lavillenie
PVDAddy - fair is fair you say the pole rotates in a circle and generates centripetal force - show me how the COM of the pole relative to its chord is rotating in a circular motion during vault - I will put together a brief stating why in my opinion it does not Using the standby - because look at fr...

Re: Swing Efficiency Comparison: Bubka, Tradenkov, Lavillenie
And you insist it is centripetal force - I disagree with that statement - just like the terms "Counter side swing" -- "counter thrust bend" -- please explain them in terms I can understand because they never came up in any course or seminars I ever took or sat in on. Centripetal ...

Re: Swing Efficiency Comparison: Bubka, Tradenkov, Lavillenie
Guess I will really never know what "Counter side swing -- counter thrust bend" really are - I have never claimed to set the pole vault world on fire as far a coaching goes - never claimed these type revelations that you PVDaddy have -- I can even live with the you not educating me. All I ...
