Pole Vault Combine
This past outdoor season the NCAA had 12 men jump over 5.50m outdoor. There were also a few more individuals that have cleared 5.50 but just not this past outdoor season. There were also 7 individuals over 5.60 which is considered the 'B' standard a lot of years, two of those over the world champion...

Re: Spike Recomendations
I recommend the Nike Zoom Triple Jump. This shoe is a lot more aggressive than the Nike Zoom Pole Vault and I think it keeps people in better sprinting mechanics. I used to be a big fan of the Nike pole vault spikes, but noticed almost everyone wearing them will roll their heel and come off the ball...

Re: New Box Collar Rule Interpretation (USTFCCCA)
ASTM had meeting and std was to be discussed. I had to miss meeting. Have not heard much on that front and ! december is getting close. I was in Jax for the ASTM meeting, a lot was discussed over 6 hours that I'm sure others can better summarize everything that was discussed. As for votes, two were...

UCS Spirit Pole Progression Question
For UCS poles they flex them like this: If a 14'7 190 is a 15.8 flex, then a 15'1 180 that would be of equal stiffness gripping the same place would be a 15.8 as well. In summary if you grip 14' on a 14'7 15.8 flex and then you grip 14' on a 15'1 15.8 flex, they should be relatively the same. They d...

Re: Minimalism
This is kind of a side note on this. People always like to throw around the idea of a 'coaching certificate' requirement for all pole vault coaches. Some kind of classes everyone must take to be a pole vault coach. This sounds really nice on paper. And I am a fan of it for a lot of people. But there...

Let's Talk About The Real Issue!
When someone comes out with a new product, they test it before it reaches the market. That is they test the product that will be released to the public for a long period of time. A lot of stuff works the first few times, but after 100 times, or 1000 times, or even 10000 times, these things start to ...

Re: Minimalism
We must remain to be realist for a bit on this topic. You Altius I am sure would like to require everyone to have a grasp of the Petrov model and how to coach that, but that is not likely. If there is a requirement it should be for the safety components of the vault. Things like being able to expres...

Re: Let's talk about box collars!
In summary. ASTM does not test products, ASTM does not interpret standards, NCAA does not require a mark of approval on the product. What does this mean to most officials, coaches, or manufactures? Someone is going to go to a meet. They are going to have a box collar the official is unfamiliar with....

Re: Let's talk about box collars!
PVJunkie you argue a moot point. Everyone but Gill seems to think the wings are not required. Maybe you are right, maybe you are wrong. How will we find out? All manufacturers must get their collars marked for approval by the ASTM. So if anyone comes out with a new collar that gets the ASTM stamp of...
