Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

Walrus, I do not claim to be a professional scientist but I have read a great deal about it ( I'm an autodidact ) and I know what I'm talking about whether you or anybody else is willing to admit it. Your emotional reaction to my last post is typically unscientific. You can't reason with the unreaso...

Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

Walrus, My purpose and goal in this endeavour is : 1. To convince coaches and vaulters that in order to develop a scientific understanding of fg. vaulting technique you must BEGIN by studying what the best vaulters ( lets say anyone over 5.80m ) actually do in the real world ( examine empirical evid...

Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

Kirk, It is my view that the swing is primarly concentrated in the rotation of the extended trail leg as it rotates about the hip in an upcurved forward to upward direction. In most cases the swing also produces upward rotation in the hips during its execution. However there are exceptions like Kon....

Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

Reply to I am the Walrus, Over and overI have read and encountered coaches and vaulters on this site who claim that The b/p model is ideal and that any deviation from it results in flawed or inferior execution. My point is not that the p/b model is bad ( other than the pre- jump and a few other mino...

Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

Reply to vault student, I'm not completely sure what you are asking me to answer. I'm guessing it involves the efficacy of the free-take off. As I stated ,empirical observational evidendence proves that many vaulters, throught the history of the fg. vault , have achieved great success with a free-ta...

Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

I would say that the complexies and variables are so great in the fiberglass vault that technique can potentially evolve and improve indefinately. This why I object so muuch to the claim that the p/b model represents ideal technique. If eveybody believes this, technical evolution comes to a dead end...

Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

In response to Pole Vault Student, Thanks for your excellent response. You must understand that being a minority of one on this site means that when I post an "article" I am overwhelmed by negative responses and cannot read through and respond to all of them. So I skim read them and then r...

Re: ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

First, I fully admit that I confused the term free-take off when I should have said pre-jump. This error was stated in T.C. 202. Empirical evidence, not theory, shows that vaulters such as Markov,Tarasov and Bubka ( and Issakson ) got oustanding results using a free-take off. However, I still asert ...

ideal technique in the fiberglass vault

A beginning note: the writer is compelled to take on the role of the devil's advocate on pvp because the great majority of posters on this site are like minded when it comes to this subject. It is arguable that all progress achieved by mankind throughout history can be attributed to contrarian think...

Kirk,
I don't know if you have read it , but I posted a response to your comments on Pennel in your "20 years left out" topic on the bottom of page six. I also included my e-mail adress.

Re: What is your correct takeoff point?

In response to I am the Walrus, You, like so many others believe that there is only one ideal way to vault. But what is this belief based on? It is my contention that the Petrov/Bubka "style" is based mainly on conjecture and the isolated success of one vaulter, Bubka. Although I think Bub...
