Re: Rule 6-4. 3b

Do you have a link to the new publication or how it is written? I would assume they mean the lower pit, because a win is not really for 1st place. But this only really happens at big meets where a score is not being kept, so place really does not matter. Only thing it hurts is people trying to get t...

Re: Should you pull at take off?

In the first set of videos you have an athlete with a bad plant and a free take off. She is taking off at 10' with a 12'6 grip and due to lack of plant and chest drive her swing is slow and she does not come off the pole well. The last video she is up 6 inches on 1 pole bigger (13' 160 to 13'7 155) ...

Re: Next pole vault star ?

Definitely not a bad jump by any means. But the one thing you said that makes me doubt he is the next great thing: "but we definitely need to work on his speed". The one thing almost all of the greats have in common is their speed. And technique is far easier to learn than speed is. Yes yo...

Re: Should you pull at take off?

If the mechanics work in a drill, they should work from full approach and if it works from full approach it should work from a drill. Does that sound logical? No. Take for instance shot put or high jump. They both plant their lead leg in order to prevent it from 'mushing' and to better transfer the...

Re: Box Collar Choices

I have some big issues still. I applaud UCS for making a more stable box. But I have a double sided pole vault pit, so If you bolt one to the ground, you have to buy two. Also with bolting them down, you can not put in a rubber plug to keep the water out of the box, and the wings sit in the water co...

Re: Should you pull at take off?

As a coach, I would never use the words 'pull- with an athlete. I occasionally will say 'pull through'. I am not necessarily saying that teaching the pull at take off is wrong, just that I believe there are better ways to do things. I watched a few of the other videos on your site and saw the girl j...

Re: Javelin in Missouri

If you are working with complete beginners I would go as cheap and soft as possible. Soft as in short distance (javes are like pole vault poles, but instead of pounds they are rated in meters (40m, 50m, 60m.. bigger numbers are stiffer javelins). Depending on your budget it is good to have several j...

Re: Jenn Suhr injured when pole breaks in practice

Using the WRONG pole!! dj Using the wrong BRAND! But the Gill vs. UCS argument aside. Does anyone else think her poles just look so much slower since she switched to carbons? All her jumps look like the smoosh and react really slow compared to her jumps on glass. Not to mention she is not jumping n...

I saw where he has done a few other events this year. LJ, TJ, Hurdles, Sprints.. That kind of stuff. What are his new PRs in that kind of stuff?
