Re: Please Critique - Swing Hips up and Drop Shoulders
She cannot drop her shoulders because she breaks the pressure and pulls too early. Look at the change from image 5 to image 6. The angle of the shoulder closes, and at that point the swing is dead, and she has to muscle the rest of the vault. In order to keep swinging, she must keep both hands and e...

Re: Life Update
Elaina, First question - In high school you ran from 7 lefts and gripped at 12'7", now you run from 6 lefs and grip at 12' - why would you shorten your run and drop your grip? Wouldn't you expect to see lower bar clearances as a result? Also, I'm going to have to disagree with your self-assessm...

Re: one in a million?
This is awesome. She must be a great athlete! I agree with you, Kyle, that a pre-jump is not as correct as being on. Perhaps if she created more space with the left arm at takeoff and really made an effort to push the pole toward the back before going elastic, she might feel more connected to the po...

Re: You thoughts as we head in to districts?
She is planting a full step early, which makes it pretty impressive that she is able to do what she's doing. When the plant is a full step early like this, her body is automatically out of time, and she is forced to decelerate. It is also nearly impossible to create space at the plant, because she s...

Re: Feel like I'm taking off early
There's not really any such thing as a quick fix for any issues in the vault. If you have developed a bad habit, it generally takes about 3 times as long to unlearn the bad habit. Practice your plant in slow motion, focusing on initiating the plant early, anticipating your left foot as you begin the...

Re: Switching the Run
Your step is out on both vaults, and you are decelerating as you approach the takeoff. First, get DJ's mid mark chart and put down a mid. Your swing is stopping because you are breaking the pressure with your bottom arm and pulling. Both arms must stay over your head for you to continue swinging. I ...

Re: Feel like I'm taking off early
Yeah, you're way under, and your plant is really late. Whenever your hips are in the wrong position at takeoff, the takeoff can feel out, even when you're under. Practice your plant motion. I would suggest you avoid this drill for now because you are dropping the pole tip too early and stabbing at t...

Re: FEEDBACK NEEDED ASAP
Can't see where your feet are, but it looks like you're taking off about 2 feet under, and as a result you can't get the hands all the way up at the plant. That's about as constructive as the advice can get for "short term" help. As for your development, your vault isn't half bad for your ...

Re: Moving Steps Back.
You have probably struggled with your step because you drop your hands right before inititating your plant. This is also affecting your ability to get the arms all the way up and take off powerfully. Tighten up your plant, and your swing will improve.

Re: beginner feedback
Focus on getting the left hand over your head when you plant. You are planting with your left hand in front of your face. Make the correction and you will find yourself holding higher and swinging better.

Re: Coach looking for some feedback
I would suggest ajusting his pole carry. It is a bit tense, and it is causing him to lose some space at the plant. Notice how his left arm is a ways out from his torso, and as he plants, he decelerates and fails to get his left hand very far above his head. As the pole tip is nearing eye level, he s...

Re: Help on putting bottom and top together.
The bottom of your vault is not better in the bottom video. In the bottom video you are: 1) Dropping the pole tip too early and initating your plant with the pole below eye level. Notice how your left arm reaches out toward the box. This is throwing you off balance and hindering your takeoff. 2) Blo...
