Re: Lexi & Tori Weeks (AR) 14'00.5" *video
Thank you! When they made their final bar, Lexi was on a 13'9" Altius Carbon Elite 21.1 flex gripping 13'6" running from 8 lefts. Tori was on a 13'9" Altius Carbon Elite 21.8 flex gripping 13'3" running from 7 lefts. I know Altius flexes their poles in inches but I've always conv...

Re: Pole Plant Rotation?
With an open top hand, I teach the soft side up. With a closed grip, I teach the soft side down. I don't think there's a right or wrong as to whether you have a closed grip or not. It's more of flexibility issue. The final goal is to make sure the soft side is up when you leave the ground. Don't ove...

Re: Sprint Spikes for Pole Vault.
I'm not sure anyone will argue with your data. I think the reason most coaches, including myself, like the vault/TJ spikes is due to the support they give to the foot. I've never seen a sprint spike that has good enough support to handle the stress repetitions of a powerful takeoff. As for the sprin...

Re: Dynamic box collars
Another question might be: "What happens if someone accidentally runs across the runway in front of the vaulter?". It may sound unlikely, but it does happen, so that scenario must be covered too. It was a serious question, Kirk. There are a number of scenarios that could make the pole vau...

Re: Dynamic box collars
I have developed a plastic flap that inserts between the box collar and the pit. It requires minimal pressure to pull on the pad
What happens when the flap is accidentally deployed before the vaulter actually plants the pole in the box?

Re: Cael Sanderson's Training Advice
I know it's been a while since this post was made but I just saw it. Great find on the article, Jason! I agree that the athlete's competitive spirit is what sets them apart from others in the pack with similar skills and abilities. From what I've observed over the years, mentality overcomes physical...

Re: RIP Alan Launder (altius)
It's sad to think that Alan won't be sharing his knowledge with us here on PVP anymore. Any time I got to a sticking point with an athlete I could always get sound advice from him. RIP, Alan and thank you for everything! You will be missed!
