Re: Help with college process
I think it's definitely achievable for me. Do you guys think 14-15 feet by the end of this season is possible when I vault about 13' going into the season? I think it's achievable but I don't want to think too unrealistically. Post a video of your best jump over a bar and we can try to tell what yo...

Re: Help with college process
With a D1 school like SD you will need to jump 15+ for them to entertain you as a walk on unless you have a TON of potential. With a PR of 14' a D3 school might be a better option if you want to vault in college. That is the route I took with at 13-6 PR out of HS and had a great experience.

Re: Help with pole transitions
Ok, If you have the same mfg of poles from 4.90 to 5m I would call the mfg and ask. They flex the poles so they will know.
If you are going from say Pacer to UCS then it's a crapshoot. You could always flex them yourself and find out.

Re: Help with pole transitions
Never done 4.90 to 5m either but based on what I experience for all other lengths... Assume grip is the same on both the 4.90 and 5m. Guideline: 15cm/6" in pole length increase = 10lb/2.0 flex difference. ex: 15'0" 190 = 15'6" 180 when gripping at the same spot You are doing a 10cm/4&...

Re: Turkey offers Bubka money to coach there
14,000,000 Turkish Lira equals 6,846,966.00 US Dollar.
The USATF annual expense for 2011 was $18,935,917 dollars.
Almost 7 million for Turkey seems pretty solid. I'd be surprised if Bubka took that role.

Re: Starting from zero
Thank you for your reply, Chirs. I've just ordered the book and the DVD's. Her weight is now 33 Kg (72 lb) and I think she will be about 40 Kg (90 lb) next year. Will this pole be useful as 'straight' pole in the meantime? Daniel Yes sir, it will be a good straight pole while she is holding low. As...

Re: Starting from zero
I would recommend you purchase the following book and DVD. It is a fantastic resource! It will teach you how to start coaching a beginner from scratch with only a sand pit. http://polevaultpower.com/store/btb.php For poles, you will need something longer than 6'8" very quickly. I would order a ...

Re: Carry bag recommendations needed for short pole
I use this cut to length for our "pole bags" at the high school. It's not too heavy on it's own and an athlete can carry it filled with 10 poles on their own. http://www.menards.com/main/plumbing/rough-plumbing/pipe-tubing-fittings/pipes/hdpe-culvert-pipes/8x20-culvert-pipe-single-wall/p-1...
