Re: Hooker is back! 5.72 in Perth

Women's pole vaulters Alana Boyd and Liz Parnov were the warm-up acts, with Boyd clearing 4.12m off a six-step run-up and Parnov posting 4.22m off eight steps. Were these runs 3L and 4L as is implied the way we use the word step, or were they 6L and 8L? It will be six and eight steps as in 3L and 4...

Re: Need constructive criticism on 14' jump, please.

Hi again, If taking off under is not a normal circumstance for you then that's fine. However I would have to see more videos/jumps to know what your habit is. Just letting you know though from experience and from working with coaches that have been doing this for a long time, taking off under is one...

Re: Need constructive criticism on 14' jump, please.

Hi there, Just a couple of things. First off, you're under when you take off and you lean back when coming into the take off. This will automatically put your hips out of position even before you leave the ground. In the grand scheme of things this also means that your swing will be slower and almos...

Steve Hooker - Coming to Grips with Yips

Here's a great article and interview with Steve's former coach Mark Stewart. Gives a lot of insight into his current situation as it has happened before! Re: Poles for beginners

Yeah, will need details if you want others to help out. For running and planting drills you can get basically any pole. Heck you can even buy some damaged poles that are too "at risk" to jump on for a heavily discounted price probably - you're not jumping on them anyway, just running and p...

Re: Update** Perth PV 18.11.11 + great Vic Parnov series

Hi again, Sorry I forgot to read the video info on youtube otherwise I would have seen that most were off 8 step. I've been using the internet on my iphone mainly for the past few days since my apartment internet is terrible. Hope the girl at 4 steps is doing well. I was wondering why she would have...

Re: Gym workouts for when i don't practice! NUtrition?

For nutrition, I suggest eating about 5 times a day. If you can't, 4 is still good. As mentioned, try to avoid foods with lots of preservatives. If you look at the back label it will say stuff like "food coloring x" or "flavor x" or anything with a color and number like "FD&...
