Re: Creating Space with the Bottom Arm
Thanks for your response Eric. I do agree that the bottom arm should be as extended as possible as the pole is being planted, as long as the shoulders are square and the force is directed upward at an angle at least perpindicular to the pole's line of travel. The amount to which this can be achieved...

Re: Talent identification
Hey Rossi, Great job with this kid. He is coming along very quickly. I think you are on the right track on working on the ground aspects, since those can never be perfected and always have a major influence on the top end. Tightening up the last strides, keeping the hands high during the plant, and ...

Re: Creating Space with the Bottom Arm
Forgot to mention Brad Walker as another vaulter who does not transfer support to the pole with a straight bottom arm, rather attempts to allow his COM to travel inward and upward. He discussed this concept in his recent webinar, archived here: http://www.anymeeting.com/WebConference-beta/RecordingD...

Re: Creating Space with the Bottom Arm
CoachEric, thanks for your thoughtful post. I submit that these points are entirely achievable with a fully extended bottom arm as the athlete plants, even holding at grips as low as 14'. This is a key point that any young vaulter should take to heart if they are gripping below 14', before trying to...

Re: NCAA MPV - Irwin 5.70, Whitt 5.65, Blankenship Kendricks 560
This is the only video I have been able to find so far of the comp. Blankenship looks great, vaguely reminiscent of Jacob Davis. Awesome inversion! http://youtu.be/MIbIDu3r9xE Hopefully somebody has video they can post of the entire comp...Coach Brookelyn has been doing this the last few years so I ...

Jen's jumps are not yet posted, but there are a lot of other jumps from the competition here. I am guessing they will post all the jumps eventually.

Re: SEC Men- Irwin 5.60 Blakenship 5.55
Thanks for the details Morry; I had seen the X's and O's and definitely picked up on the closeness of the comp. I have seen Kendricks' jumps from last year and I agree, he has massive potential. It's going to be a good year for the college men, if everyone can stay healthy...maybe it will be the fir...
