Re: Differences in Pole Brands?

On this topic, what of the placement of the weight label/max hand-hold tape? I'm not an expert, but other than Spirit, they are at/near the top of the pole. Spirit is about 6-7 inches from the top. I know HS rules don't allow holding above that mark, not sure if that applies to college, Masters can ...

Re: Choosing a new UCS Spirit

In general, if you keep the weight rating the same, the diameter of the pole will increase as the length of the pole increases to overcome the increased leverage of the vaulter on the pole. If you look at the size of the tip/plug on the pole you are currently happy with - you can compare it to the t...

Re: Help getting off ground

The hand hold should be moved up, one handgrip (about 3") at a time, until the pole slowly moves past vertical. If the pole stops at or before reaching vertical, move the hands down a handgrip and make sure the vaulter is not pulling. Each time the handgrip is raised, move the starting point fo...

Re: MASTERS PV SUMMIT NOW A REALITY

That's awesome! I'd love to go, unfortunately, I'll have to wait until 2015 as I have a conflict that weekend. I hope it is a huge success so that it continues for years to come. I wish it were a couple of weeks later (or earlier) in the year.

Go Masters!!!!

Re: New PR

Excellent observation and suggestions CoachEric. Since you have a snow day from school and no way to get on a runway, there are a couple of things you can do today. 1 - Watch these videos on planting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_b45GBLQZ8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noO3DQh8JUA 2 - Practice ...

Re: New PR

Nice job on the new PR! Given the poles you are jumping on, and where you are holding, you can jump higher. The plant and take off looked good. The things that I saw that need to be corrected are: (1) you are blocking out with your lower hand - which blocks your swing, (2) because of the blocking fr...

Re: Help with Pole Progression

Thanks Becca. Let me get a little more specific. Pole selection is very limited, vaulter is 170 lbs, currently gripping at 12' on a 12'9" 170 Altius, is ready to move to a higher grip, and is starting to blow through this pole at that grip. I'm assuming, that since the vaulter is holding about ...
