I was at the Oregon Twilight on Saturday. Tommy looked pretty good but he was back to his sometimes bad habit of getting back too fast. Lots of height but he just couldn't get deep enough into the pit. He almost no heighted, on his third jump at his opener 5.20m 17' 3/4" he got just deep enough to c...

I stepped in as a replacement and officiated at the XO Invite here at Hayward Field, Eugene Oregon last weekend and we had 32 men vaulting in one pit at the meet and 20+ women on the other pit so I would say participation is up in Oregon.

souleman I think all of us masters vaulters have some weak link in our bodies that we have to deal with on a regular basis. I would have to go with Becca and say that Ice is better than heat. each to his own of course but my advice would be heat it before and ice it afterwards. I had surgery on my l...

souleman Congrat's, Glad to hear you got it going. Patience is pretty important and starting short and getting it going correctly before you move on is really key. I have recently realized that I have been getting ahead of myself in my own training with insueing bad results. staying grounded and not...

Bubba thanks for the idea, Actually I think that is what I try to do I just have been thinking about it a little bit differently, so I will try thinking about it like you have described always good to try new ways of thinking about the same thing not only for ones own jumping or for when things aren...

Thanks Bubba I have a meet this weekend ( the Oregon Invitaional) where I am going to try and jump with some of college vaulters. It's always fun to beat a few young guys and just to be out on the field with the young guys is great. So I will not change anything now but next week I am going to get t...

Hey guys I am wondering what you guys think of this. I have always felt that my plant is one of the strong parts in my vault. It is early, high and my step is almost always under my top hand. I like to think I am doing the Petrov free takeoff and I coach this as well but recently I have reallized th...

Master That pole might work fine, it might be a little small but jump on it and you will know after a couple of jumps . For me I don't go for full vaults from 4 or less lefts, I just don't feel like I can get enoough going from there to get much done, But obviously others do and can so I would try i...

Hey guys interesting topic For what is worth. This is how I deal with vaulting at different approaches and using the proper pole. Luckily for me I have a huge pole selection but this is what I do. I am 50 years old and so far this year I have jumped 13'6" indoors. I had to train/jump outdoors all in...

hey Master vaulter. Great Post. At best this masters vaulting is a tuff gig. I mean training and vaulting is hard and dealing with and getting through all the injuries can be very trying . So anything that can help us keep our desire/energy/passion going is really important. I think knowing how you ...
