Re: WIAA says not to offer advice to kids from other schools...
Dick Henrie had this issue a few years ago. He ran summer programs wich kids from several of the surrounding Bellingham schools attend and he was the Sehome PV coach. During the track season Dick would go to meets for the bellinham hs , nooksak, mount baker, lynden christian schools and this was fou...

Re: Bottom arm discussion continues...
Check out the Petrov speech ... He states that having a straight bottom arm after takeoff will result in a swing BELOW, rather than ABOVE the pole. What does he mean by " BELOW, rather than ABOVE the pole "? Kirk I thought the quote was more like "result in a swing below t...

Re: 2010 NFHS Rules You Should Know for Pole Vault
When I read Becca's senerio I couldn't think why anyone would ever do that then today I just realized I my have a vaulter in this situation next week. Last year she NH at sub districts at her opening hieght which was a foot above the eigth place it took to advance to districts. So, she is worried ab...

Re: Unprofessional coaching behaviour
See this all the time. What is interesting - it is never (I know never is an absolute) the PV coach who really knows what she or he is talking about who gives advise to someone who is not their athlete. Most often seems to be the "coach" with limited knowledge who is handing out suggestio...

Hooker did 6.06 indoors in Feb in Boston so it is not an outdoor national record.

Re: Female collwick
It's strange ... becuz even in the vault ... the gymnastics vault event ... I don't see how it's an advantage. She's probably just done so many reps in the gym vault that it's a hard habit for her to break in any other event. Kirk She said because the approach run is similar and they fre...

Re: Female collwick
It's similar her lead knee is usually behind her take off leg, she has a very pronounced penultimate step, and she gets into much more of a C position. you wouldn't think she was going to rotate the pole until she swings on it then it bends some and away she goes. The long jump coach said she jumps ...

Re: Female collwick
While I've never been in that situation before I would imagine that having her do lots of take off drills will definitely help. -Andrew Your right, she has only had eight practices and only running from 4 lefts. what I find funny is she can take off fine if she doesn't try to swing. But as soon as ...

Re: How does your state do it????
My opinion is after the state qualifier they determine what the 8th or even 6th best mark was from all the state qualifying meets and any one that achieved that at the state qualifier meets(ditrict/sectional) but did not place in the top 2, 3, or 4 still will advance. I kind of feel like if you pro...

Female collwick
I have a freshman girl level 10 gymnast that takes off like jason collwick. she has practice only practiced 8 times but I have not had any success getting her to take off like a normal human being. If she doesn't try to swing she will take off normally. But when she goes to swing it looks exactally ...
