Re: 6-step box plant and actual jump
I really like the pole drop and rhythm you have on your actual jump! Looks very smooth, very fluid, and you have a good short last step, though you could try and even make it shorter and allow for more spring coming off the ground! I would say if you could get that step out about another 9 inches or...

Re: The next generation?
Here is the big thing I have noticed about the U.S. compared to many other countries around the world. In the U.S. we start with a high school coach, move to a college coach, and then either stay with them or move on to another coach or multiple coaches. How can we strive to perfect a model if we do...

Re: Winter Vaults?
MITS Indoor meets go through the colleges like GVSU, MSU, UofM, CMU, EMU etc. They use them as a fundraiser for the college programs i believe... i will get back to you on a website for these, but i believe they start in January sometime. I know i went to them in High School and my dad takes his vau...

Re: 1-2-3 Standards
I am sorry but i have to disagree. If i would have had to deal with only 3 places to put my standards in high school, idk how long i would have stayed around. Granted i kept my standards at 30 most of the time, but there were plenty of times i needed to move them up 2 inches in order to make a heigh...

Re: 1-2-3 Standards
I am going to have to agree with Cory on this one! The reason the standards can be moved by each inch is so that all the vaulters have an equal opportunity to clear the bar. If you start making it so there are only 3 settings, not only will it make it less fun for people because they wont clear as m...

Re: Bottom arm discussion continues...
FX, my question to you would be when you have your best jumps, do you feel like you are doing a lot of work to get over the bar, or does it just seem easy? I know everytime i have cleared a PR, the jump just feels smooth and easy to complete, like I don't even have to work that hard to make it. The ...

Re: African American Pole Vaulters
I wonder if anyone else has thought about this as well... i know all the people i talk to about doing pole vault who say no to me, usually sight being scared of heights as a big issue.... This goes for about 90% of people who i have talked to, which for the most part are sprinters. I mean most of us...

Re: A College Vaulter
Kirk, if you watch a little closer it never lands on the top of the standard, that is in fact just the crossbar waving and wiggling before landing back on the peg... take a closer look and you'll see what i mean

Re: Pole Vault Competitions Moved Indoors?
Becca, I am pretty sure the College Division at Drake Relays was outdoor, not indoor, just the invitational portion! I heard from one of the Notre Dame jumpers they had a nice tailwind at Drake when he jumped, so it couldn't have been indoor...
