Master, it is indeed sleeve material that goes around drainage tubing. It costs $19.99 for a 100' roll if I remember correctly. It stretches to fit around the drainage tube so there isn't alot of excess material when you use it as a single pole sleeve and, as I mentioned in my initial post, it is qu...

I used the black corrugated tubing for a couple of seasons and if it isn't lined (and mine wasn't) it puts black marks all over the poles in addition to being hard on the tape. This year I went to Home Depot and picked up three 10' sections of 6" white, thin-walled PVC drain pipe without the drain h...

Older Poles

While cleaning out the PV garage at the high school where I coach I found 3 older UCS/Spirit poles that just happen to be perfect fits for two of my top vaulters. They were buried behind a bunch of 3" diameter 15' Cata Poles from the 1970's. I have two questions: (1) What can I use to clean off the ...

Where's Gus?

Does anyone know if and when "The Pole Vault World According to Gus" will start listing results from 2006? The link on the PVP home page goes to a page with 2005 results through 5/30/2005.

Seeing this thread again reminded me that I had intended to write the final chapter on the 3 ESSX poles on Ebay from the liquidation warehouse. I bought all three poles for bargain prices ($339 total). They taped the three tubes together for shipping and were able to get UPS to handle them (somethin...

I guess what I'm asking is, can an official come up to one of my kids at a meet and tell him or her that the racquet grip tape or handlebar tape is illegal and has to be removed?

Pole Taping

The rule says that the pole "may have a binding of no more than two layers of adhesive tape of uniform thickness in the hand area." I've never seen a definition of "adhesive tape." Can I use tacky tennis or squash racquet grip tape? How about road bike handlebar tape? both are strips of material wit...
