Re: BTB Better Than Bubka
Jordy Nelson-- not a superstar - good solid player - makes more playing football than he probably could being a top vaulter - he is 6'3" ran a 10.62 100m -- was a sprinter in HS -- Not to get off subject, but I dig Jordy Nelson... with Driver out this weekend, he might see some balls thrown hi...

Re: Force at take off
While EIU is right that no single equation is going to work for all vaulters, if given some physical stats (i.e. runway velocities, take off angle, height of vaulter/length of limbs) a reasonable estimation is possible for how much total force is going on. However, I think it would be very difficult...

Weight lifting is by far the least important training activity related to pole vaulting. You can look good on the beach though.
That is sick.

Re: Trouble leaving the ground
I had this BAD my Junior and Senior years of college... I eventually found out one thing that did work pretty well. I focussed on hitting my hands up high and early. Found from video that a lot of times that I would run through, my plant was way late, and would have murdered me if I tried to go with...

Re: Speed Vs. Strength
its not 'crap' its really called 'science'. That equation gives you the bare minimum height your bodies center of gravity should achieve as long as u don't just completely screw up. It does not however calculate in added energy from the swing or extension. That is why I said it is the bare minimum....

ha. Well, training three times a week for hypertrophy is like trying to fart against a hurricane. You're not going to get big like that; it's more like maintenance training. ...funny analogy. I very much disagree with this statement. With regular eating and quality workouts, you can get very large ...

Re: P90 X
So with all the hoopla surrounding the workouts, combined with a nagging calf injury and just kind of ‘letting myself go,’ I decided to try the P90X workouts. So here are my thoughts… The workouts do work, but I wouldn’t say that they should be an athlete’s workout. There are a lot of variations of ...

Re: Bolt vs Powell
The highlight of this Friday’s Diamond League meet in Paris has to be the matchup between Jamaican sprinters Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell in the 100m dash. While Bolt has been out with injury for most of the season, Powell has dominated the event, posting a league leading 9.82s in the process. Bolt ...

Re: State records
Wisconsin State Records (as is the case with South Carolina) are referred to as what has happened at the state meet. State Records: Boys: Dan Novak; 15' 8" Girls: Liza Lewis, 12' 6" All time bests: Boys: Todd Verbick, 16' 7" Girls: Jenny Soceka, 13' 0" Casey Carrigan is clearly a...
