i dont knowwwww....... but i got to meet Eric Eshbach coupla weeks ago at rick attigs pole vault camp. The photographers were trying to take pictures of him...... and whatd they do is the photographer would sit right above the box on that little spot on the pit..... which is just inches from the pit.... and would get the shot from directly under the bar.... what a crazy guy. He got nailed a coupla times though... but he kept on going.. and Eshbach... jeez hes good.

My school polevault record is

lemme think..
7' and ever increasing ( I have been vaulting for like 2 weeks)
That was me I am the first vaulter in 32 years or so..The major problem was the last jumped broke his leg and never jumped.
now football has been setting records like we are #2 in state for our massive loss..Track we do great but not field. No emphasis on field event coaching and even less for me.

I think a main reason that athletes don't preform well when they get to college is it just isn't important to them anymore. They can go out party do whatever, and if they have time to vault sounds like fun. It happens.

I don't know about the other states, but in FL, the state record doesn't say alot about the history of the vault here. Our state record is 15'9.25", which isn't too bad, but the state record has to be set at the state meet. There have been about 10 guys over 16', alright I was one of them in 1987, and 1 over 17'. As a matter of fact it was the same year that Mike Holloway vaulted 17'3". Mike didn't get the state record that year, but he's the best we've ever had come out of the state. He then went on to vault 19' and I'm proud to say that I know that guy.
The greatest gift I ever received was the look on a young vaulters' face after setting a PR!

Our HS recod was 15'6", our state meet record is 15'7", and the highest any high schooler has clear in WI is 16' .75" (4.90).

Our college record (Wisconsin-La Crosse) is 17'9", with a 17'7.5" and a 16'7.5"

...not bad for a D3 school to have 6 guys with lifetime PRs of at least 15'

LaCrosse has always had a great pole vault program. I remember back in 91 or 92 they qualified around (memory gets fuzzy w/age) 5 guys for indoor nationals in the vault.

Our school record for Oregon is 18'3, the highest in the country. That's gonna be hard to beat. :)

our state championship record is 15'2" although a guy by the name of shannon pope Vaulted 16'3" at a home meet of his (not good under pressure) My brother set our school record with 13'6" and he was ranked 15th overall. I live in north carolina and pole vaulting isnt a very big sport here but hopfully it will be a more competetive state in the near future.

yes TX is 18'2.5" Eric E did that

I remember the days when good old OK had the record, Joe Dial 17'9.5" 1981-1999 when eric broke it.

needless to say I tried to get it back but failed misserably, I ended up being #4 on OK's all time list at 17'1"
