this is really bugging me
Hey MillerTime...
The depth of smaller schools / divisions in college may not be as deep,
but that does not say anything about the quality at the top.
NCAA Division III around 2000 (01, 02)...
Jeremy Scott jumped well over 18 feet ...
and I jumped 12' 11.5"...
Both of those at the time were pushing good D-1 heights.
You don't HAVE to be at a D-1 Pole Vault strong school to jump well!
Go to school where you will be happy... not only
the place where you think you could jump high!
Good Luck!

yeah i agree, i know theres good jumpers everywhere, i just wanted to see if i was reading that article right. i just couldnt imagine any division's national championship being won at 13'4 in any level. especially college. i mean its not like NJCAA D3 is a small division, theres 3 NJCAA D3 schools within 20 miles of where i live. and it happend 6 months ago! i dont believe mens nationals was won at 13'4, there has to be somethin wrong there, thats too good to be true.PVMD2B wrote:Hey MillerTime...

JC divisions are pretty crazy. I don't even understand how they work.
There's no real national JC meet. I think there are at least 5 or 6 JC asociations. NJCAA (which I guess has 3 divisions?), NWACC (or something like that), whatever the California ones are called...

Is that poster refering to a womens mark? I was out of the sport when colleges started to let women jump. If memory serves me right in 95-96 Mel mueller was training with us and she qualified for the olympic trials (as an exhibition event I think) with 12'3" at an last chance meet at UW-Lacrosse. Of yeah and she was a DIII athlete.
An optimist is one who sees a light in darkness....a pessimist blows it out.
