Who the heck is Katy Viuf?

I was at the track meet at UW today chatting with Anthony Curran (UCLA coach) when we looked over the start lists for the women's pole vault. He had several girls in the competition but there was one name I did not recognize.
"Who is Katy Viuf?"
Well it turns out Katy was a cheerleader at UCLA her freshman year. She turned out for the track team last year as a sophomore, but struggled with some injuries and such and it didn't work out (I got the impression Anthony cut her at some point). Anthony encouraged her to do some pole vaulting over the summer, so (she is from Tulsa) she jumped with Joe Dial a couple times.
She turned out for track again in the fall and Anthony decided to take her on if she was going to be serious about it. She worked hard all fall and they had some kind of outdoor practice meet where she jumped 11-6.
2 weeks ago UCLA traveled to Illinois and Viuf made her collegiate debut. She placed 4th with a vault of 3.85m (12-7.50), jumping the same height as the winner, but placing lower on misses.
Fast forward to today at UW, Katy PRs twice at 3.86 (12-8) and 4.01 (13-1.75) and places 6th in the meet behind 4 professional athletes.
I could be wrong, but I think Anthony told me she was on a 14'165.
Anyway, I got video of her 4.01 jump that I will post shortly.
Now you all know who Katy Viuf is!

Seven Bruin women posted lifetime-bests, while several others notched season-bests to highlight UCLA at the Washington Invitational on Saturday. The highlight of the day came from junior Katy Viuf, who vaulted to a career high and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 13-1.75. That mark improved on her previous best (12-7.50) and ranks in the top ten in the country. Viuf was competing in just her second meet of her career in the vault.
