Oklahoma Pole Vault

Unread postby kev44000 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:08 pm

Oklahoma volunteer vault coach dismissed. Vault program in doubt for 2011 season. More then likely no pole vault at OU.

Jonathan is very upset. After having a great indoor season last year as a freshman at OU jumping a pr of 16'7" and winning 3 meets, his sophpmore season is in doubt. He doesnt want to transfer because of the social network he's developed. He doesn't know where he would transfer. The only other schools that made offers to him were private and too expensive. He's even considering not vaulting at all.

THAT is a shame. I'm sure there have got to be schools who would love to have a sophomore who jumped 16'7" last year. Best of luck to Jonathan

A track coach at OU told me today that the pole vault program at OU will continue. A vault coach has already been interviewed for the position and they hope to have the job filled within a week or so.

Good  there are way too many programs losing coaches and losing pole vault.

Great news OU has hired a coach from West Virginia. The vault is back on. Good deal for all the vaulters there.

Am I overlooking something? I didn't see Jonathan's name on the OU roster. Did he transfer?

Morry I was told he quit the team. Do not know if he is still there in school. What a wasted talant.

I hate to hear that. I was scrolling through this weekend's meet results and saw Oklahoma's kids and their heights and didn't see Jonathon's name.

We don't know the whole story. He might transfer somewhere and have a great collegiate career.
