Ill keep this topic in college because it is for college student ears. but heres the scenario you wake up, saying wow , what happened last night my head is killin me, whats going on, you know you got practice, though you went out the night before, you know it was a bad idea but you gotta jump today, you thnk you are going to vault horrible. you go to practice and jump awesome, even though there is no physical way it should happen, the night before you were out till about 4am and you got 2 hours of sleep. your dehydrated and feel like crap, but still you vault better than before, this is a scenario that though we dont try to achieve does happen , i mean sometimes on a night i go out and hit the track the day after, im like oh man im going to jump like crap, but then i jump so nasty and get prs. this ever happen to anyone, im wondering if other college campuses are any different

why would you be so tired, dehydrated and have a headache?? ;)

never happened to me..... :o :o

its college- it happens, if it hasn't happened to you, then it most likely will- but there is a point when that has to stop, or at least slow down :)

Sometimes when you have all that crap going on, it distracts you from the stuff that normally bothers you.

I broke up with my boyfriend the night before the conference meet, there was bad weather and other drama going on, and I went on to win conference and jump a season PR. I think it can keep you from worrying too much about the task at hand.

I agree. I have seen a lot of people jump PR's when they're sick. It takes away the thinking aspect of the vault and lets you just do what you know how to do.

I was having a mediocre season and had one meet left a-"Last chance" meet. Thinking my season was over, I enjoyed the night before. In fact I was still enjoying the night before for most of the bus ride to the meet the next day. I pr'd by 15" broke the school record and qualified auto for nationals. My head was so fuzzy it took a few days for it to sink in what had actually happened. My original avatar is was of that fatefull day.

i'll agree that it prob keeps you from overthinking the vault.

and for anyone else who might run into this problem- to feel better after, o let's call it, prolonged socializing, it's been scientifically proven to help if you:
1. eat burnt toast- the carbon acts as a spongey filter and gets rid of any remaining toxins in your body.

2. eat eggs- they have cysteine which helps break up more toxins in your liver.

3. drink sports drinks- if you can't get one, water's fine, but these have electrolytes that were probably depleted since alcohol is a diuretic.

4. eat a banana and drink fruit juice- replace everything you washed out the night before, namely potassium and fructose.

one thing you shouldn't do is drink coffee. i know, it's tradition and i'm somewhat of a youngin', but you're probably dehydrated, meaning you probably have a wicked headache. caffine is a vasoconstrictor and it will only increase the effects of dehydration.

k well, i hope this helps someone lol.

P.S. it's ok, don't freak out. when i party hardy i don't mess with alcohol, i much prefer cocaine lol. i just like knowing this kind of stuff. sigh, welcome to nerdville, population me :o .

And I thought Nerdville, USA was in Williamsburg, Va at W&M! I guess if Nerdville is in FL then I don't have to worry so much anymore! :P
