A 2001 graduate of Douglas High School, Rachel Doak enjoyed a record-setting four-year career as a member of the Jacksonville State track and field and cross country teams.
Doak, the daughter of Rhonda and Jim Doak, attended JSU on a scholarship. She graduated cum laude this spring with a major in exercise science and wellness and a minor in psychology.
Doak plans to attend graduate school for physical therapy next year after taking a year off to either teach English as a second language in a foreign country, or to be a graduate assistant coach for track at another university.
Team captain for the Gamecocks, Doak traveled and competed in every meet of the indoor and outdoor track seasons. After running cross country through her junior year, she chose to give it up her senior year so she could concentrate on the pole vault.
“My main event ended up being pole vault because of my gymnastics and diving abilities,â€Â
