Following the Brandenburg Gate vault competition, I posted some material about Hartwig's eligibility for the world 40 record. Since then, I've found that the world masters association does list him as the age-40 record holder on the basis of his 5.70m at the U.S. trials in Eugene.

In looking for that, I copied the entire list of men's records from the masters site at world-masters-athletics.org I suppose those records are posted somewhere in this forum, but I didn't find it in a search of the last two years, so perhaps it's suitable to post now.
