synovial cyst questions
I just recently started jumping again after 25 year layoff and after 6 months have developed a synovial cyst on the l5 which is unstable. my neuro surgeon has recommended fusing this joint and after recoverey would have no restrictions from activities. Has anybody on here done this and how did it come out. I could also quite jumping again and just live with the back pain like i have for the last 20 plus years. I am 50 years old and am able to jump about every week and a half to 2 weeks at an age group world record level in practice so maybe i don't have to much to complain about. I am not sure if i am decrepid enough yet for a fusion.

Re: synovial cyst questions
Just got out of the hospital today, the fusion of L5s1 was a sucess, already off pain meds and just have surgery pain which is disappearing rapidly. I was walking the afternoon of surgery and walked about a mile today when i got home. all previuos scatic leg and foot pain were gone when i woke up from surgry, surgeon says once healed i have no restrictions and can vault to my hearts content. so far so good. surgery was no walk in the park but 1 and 1/2 days of morphine pump was all i needed for pain. both myshoulder operation were much more painful. if your in good shape and need a fusion i would recomend doing it>
