Pole vault in San Francisco

Unread postby bradbowery » Thu Aug 06, 2009 12:07 am

Hey everyone,

I'm living in San Francisco and there doesn't seem to be much of a vault scene here. I'm considering doing something similar to the vault club I started back in Boston when I was coaching at MIT. Does anyone know of any high schools or facilities in San Francisco that could accommodate a vault club or that might be in need of a vault coach? If there's anyone out there who is interested in vaulting in the city, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
Brad

S.I. has a pole vault program in the city. Rirdon has the money, but doesn't have a program. Public schools up there probably don't have the money. There are a number of programs on the peninsula.

Rirdon also has a vault program with a very good coach (same as SI).

My name is ryan rice and i go to the academy of art university down town. I am joining the track team which is very small and we don't have many facilities. My coach told me to ask around and see if there is any place that i could possibly pole vault at because the track at ccsf where the team practices doesn't have any mats or standards. I love pole vaulting and was wondering if there is anyone who could help me out or if you have any suggestions that would be great thank you.

The jumps coach at USF and my favorite vaulter, Laura Huarte, has athletes in a situation similar to yours and probably has scoped out the situation out there. You might want to contact her and pick her brain.

SFSU may be a location since they have had vaulters on the roster lately and have facilities.
