San Diego Friday Night Vaults

Unread postby artparry » Tue May 15, 2012 2:33 pm

Anybody heard about any dates for the San Diego Friday Night Vaults, at San Diego State? I went (I live in Arizona) a couple of times last year and they are GREAT! 3 or 4 pits and 60 to 80 vaulters!

My name is Matthew Sweet and I am the Pole Vault Coach at Patrick Henry High School (across the freeway) We are going through all the work to start to take over the FNV. It should still be 3 pits 150ft and 105ft runways plus the raised one. We are just finishing up the paperwork to get the stuff moving. Thanks for your patience.

Matt.

Matt,

Thanks for the update. I live in Tucson, Arizona and have talked to numerous other vaulters here and in Phoenix that are really interested in coming over for the events. I came over last year (actually jumped well and attemped a new world record in the 65-69 age group) and am looking forward to this years events. Thanks for all you and all other coaches do to make pole vaulting the special event that it is.

Make sure to be on the regular runway if you're going for records, wooden runways currently are not accepted for outdoor American records.

There will be three runways a 155 and 105 on new all weather and then the wooden runway for small jumps.

FRIDAY NIGHT VAULT

Who: Anyone interested in Pole Vaulting
What: The Friday Night Pole Vault Series
Where: Patrick Henry High School
When: The dates are: June 13th,20th, and 27th. There will be a 3 and 5 pm flight.
Why: The San Diego Pole Vault Club, would like to bring to your attention an opportunity where together we would generate good will and P.R. for Patrick Henry, the athletic community and the community at large. By seizing this opportunity we can give local athletes, a chance to compete alongside collegiate, and elite level athletes. By Patrick Henry hosting the series of events the school can gain recognition and notoriety of hosting a world class event and generate positive awareness about an Olympic sport and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Thank you Nambi. I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you all.

So, yes the remaining two vaults are in July not in June.

Who: Anyone is invited to vault including first time vaulters and anyone that is interested in the sport of pole vaulting.

What: The Friday Night Vault series was first started by Rich Fox at SDSU and this past year SDSU decided to let us host the meets.

When: July 20th and the 27th are the last two remaining ones. Next year I hope to do the series much earlier in the Summer with a total number of dates to hopefully be around 5

Where: Patrick Henry High School
The track stadium is brand new this year and is very quick. On average it will give you 1 to 1.5 feet for every 6 lefts. There are two runways in the halfdome of the field a 155 and 110 with brand new Gill boxes. There is also the same raised runway with our pit that SDSU when they hosted the FNV at the Aztrack.
