LR Zoo's biggest snake gets new name: Cammie
Associated Press - June 30, 2008 12:14 PM ET

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - The snake billed as Arkansas' longest has a new name - Cammie, short for camouflage.

The Little Rock Zoo held a contest to name its new snake, and siblings Jamie and Carle Reeves submitted the winning entry.

Cammie belonged to Jonesboro resident Jeff Hartwig - who, over the weekend, qualified for the Beijing Olympics in the pole vault. Hartwig kept the 20-foot python as a pet, but recently donated her to the Little Rock Zoo.

Cammie is a non-venomous, reticulated python, which, along with the anaconda, is among the world's largest snakes.

wait, seriously, where do you find these things? Does everyone just email you this sort of stuff when you find it? The articles on brad jumping 6.04 and all the olympic trial stuff I can understand obviously, but this is kinda obscure/nuts. You must really love pole vaulting, thats almost stalker status, LOL.

Pole vaulting is a small world. A lot of us keep in touch at meets and such.

For instance, i live 10 min from Little Rock. I would have heard about this anyway, most likely. Although i am sure a lot of articles go by without becca or others catching them.

she also has a search filter that pretty much finds all this for her. its not like she sits around 24/7 desperately hunting down vault/vaulter related articles
