Stuczynski?

Unread postby roger/over » Sat Feb 26, 2005 9:19 pm

Does Jennifer Stuczynski represent a name change? The only USA Jennifers I can find over 4.00 in the 2004 indoor or outdoor seasons are Lincoln, Bennett and O'Neill, and she's not on the 2005 world deep list. ???

No, this is only her second year vaulting.

Stuczynski

Unread postby roger/over » Sun Feb 27, 2005 1:26 am

Very, very unusual.

According to the Roberts Wesleyan website <http://www.roberts.edu/athletics/>
their indoor record a/o 2004 was held by Renee Evans at 3.67m (12' 1/2").

Jen Stuczynski is shown on their 2005 indoor roster as a senior, competing in sprint, jumps, pole vault, with a 2004 outdoor best in the vault of 3.47m (11'4 1/2").

That's an improvement, from the 2004 outdoor season to the 2005 indoor season, of .88m = 2' 10 1/2".

She's another one of Rick Suhr's projects (he's the coach of high school indoor record holder Mary Saxer and Tiffany Maskulinki as well as several other top vaulters)

Very interesting technique - she actually drops the pole to the ground about two feet before the box and slides it in. Didn't seem to bother her too much as she PR'd several times at this meet...

Jennifer Stuczynski, Women's Pole Vault winner: The win has not set in yet. I just want to know what happened on my last jump.

My legs felt tired going down the runway, but I kept pushing. I did not feel everything was on top (regarding performance). I have a lot of work to do on my technique.

I just plan on training hard after this because I have a lot of things (regarding technique) to perfect.

We would like to post some stats to clarify the mystery of Jenn Stuczynski. The story is simple. Ten months ago, Suhr saw her running on a soccer field one day and asked her to try the vault. At first she had a lot of hesitations barely even seeing the event before, but after some convincing gave it a try. Like the rest of us, she fell in love with the event. The 22 year old, 5'9.5", 3-sport athlete went into the same pole vault system that produced Tiffany Maskulinksi, Mary Saxer, and Jenn O'neil. Training for the event on a regular basis, she went from jumping 0' to jumping 14'3.25" to win the US National title in 10 months time. Any questions about Jenn can be directed to Suhr Sports at www.suhrsports.com

I asked and they said they don't have any.

If anyone else has some, let me know and I'll be glad to host it!

I taped the track meet, and I think they showed Jenn's clearance. I would be happy to send it to someone who could transfer it to their computer.
